just for random information i want to obtain, how does a cam stage 2+ effect mpgs??
because i have bought some pi cams, but thinking of selling them and looking for a nice set of stage 2 cams (possible nitrous) and wanted to know how bad it will hurt?? plus how much of a lob will i get??

Why does eveyone say mods are bad for gas? I dont have cams yet but with my mods I get about 50 miles more a tank than when I was stock doing the same kind of driving

Thats because most of your mods help the air to flow better, making the engine run more efficiently. And your 3.73 help to run the engine at a bit higher rpm, closer to your 4.6's power band. So your car does less work to produce the same power.

Bottom line, going fast costs money...how fast do you want to go?:nice:

Crower Stg 2 PI SC cams, 4500 RPM stall TC, 4.30's in the rear, 20 MPG city, 24 MPG highway. If I was to put the 3.27's that the car had originally, there is no doubt in my mind that my car would be back to 30 MPG on the highway like it was stock.

Cams MAY drop 1MPG....MAYBE. I got 27 MPH highway with cams and full boltons. 25MPG on the way back with teh A/C on.

Now I get 25 highway and probbaly ALOT more since my 3.27s gears are back in.

ONLY mod where I noticed a drop in MPG was the 3.73 gears. Now with the 3.27s, my car gets ALOT better milage, but ill have to check.

Cams and gears can hurt fuel economy, but most others will help fuel economy if you don't keep your foot in it more.

In my 97 GT, I just got 22mpg in mixed driving (about 60% highway). In the summer, I got 27mpg once, but I was short shifting and driving 70mph.

You mean you arent constantly exploring the boost of your turbos:nonono: :nonono: :nonono: Send it up here and Ill test her for ya:nice: :flag: :D

LOL no I do...all the time actually. But I dont think iv ever actually adveraged less than 20MPG. Car always requires 4-5 gallons per 100 mile trips to/from work. Around 4 gallons if Im easy on it, and around 5 when I beat on it alot.
