I have a 99 V6 mustang with 76K miles.

Recently the fuel tank has begun to leak at a steady pace from the filler hose/tank connection. I was wondering what could have caused this to happen and if it can be fixed without dropping the fuel tank.

Please help!!

Take your inside truck liner out on the passengerside. There is a rubber hose in there that could be leaking. It is the overfill hose that runs to the bottom of the car in case of an overfill.

I would check that first.

My '95 Cobra had this issue, with the hose rotten, and was allowing freshly filled gas to come into the trunk. For about three fill-ups, I had to put up with gas smell in the interior. It's a weird thing to go wrong, but an easy fix, if that is the problem.

Hope you find the problem and solution!

The fuel is leaking out from the connection (rubber gasket) where the filler tube and the gas tank connect. It is not running down from the fuel door. I could see teh fuel leaking out of that point and the fuel was nowhere near anything other than this connection.

Some others on the net have had a similiar problem and they said it was a simple rubber gasket, but still had to drop the gas tank. And, of course, the tank is full. If there are any other possiblities, please let me know.

Thank you.
