Fuel guage pickup problem...

For some reason the fuel guage in my 87 mustang 5.0 is stuck about half an inch past the full mark. It doesnt move at all which leads me to think that the fuel guage pickup is messed up or something. I would have thought that it would be stuck on the empty mark if it was broken though... Do you guys have any ideas?
