fuel guage problems

what i got is a 85 mustang gt i redid my fuel system to 8an and to do this i had to use a 87 93 tank. now my fuel gauge reads empty untill i am just about to run out of gas then the guage goes to full.i didnt chage any wiring

does anyone know about the sender units

I think the pre 87 sending units operate off differnt ohm readings. So you will need to install the sending unit from your original tank if possible.
