Just thinking out loud here but what would it take to make a 460 fuel injected? What kinda intake and inj's would you need for something like that? Actually the whole deal consisting of maf and all would it work with a stock pcm if it was tuned with a tweecer?

I know a lot questions for just pondering something but answers would be great

it's just like converting any other carbed engine to fuel injection ...

lower with injector ports and an upper that fits the throttle body you intend to use.

then there is the tfi/distributor thing to deal with ... i think someone makes a kit to convert an old style one to a new style one

of course, fitting a monster like that in the engine bay might pose some problems ...

i'm not sure, but i think the motor mounts are the same

I have seen sn95's with them in there so I know they will fit. The fuel injection stuff might cause a clearance problem. I have the aftermarket hood already which could be helpful. Ins't there a way to drop a motor lower with the k member too?

I just figured maybe some of the stuff I have could be used but I think I would need huge injectors for that

solid motor mounts drop the engine some. it can be done but it will take a lot of work and trial and error. why do you want to fuel inject it anyway? carb would still give you the power you want.

I've always had bad luck with carbs. Also the whole gay starting when its cold pisses me off. I was also thinking about the injected hp difference but I guess with a motor that big it wouldn't really matter

They make the swap mounts and headers for the foxes already, so I'm sure they could be adapted the the sn95. The 90's ford trucks had efi 460's ,but I think the spyder intake would look cooler on one, which chp sales. Besides the Boss Mustang Ford built to show off, had a big block and it all fit under a cobra r hood.

Mike (Low5.0) Has been doing some searching for me and came across a couple sites that have conversions CHP was one of them for the spyder its like $699. The other site they take your carb intake and rework it to hold a tb on top and drill holes for Injectors heres their site http://www.force-efi.com/machefi.htm. Its pretty cool how they do it but its a little expensive. I like the gold one on the bottom LOL.

He also found some forums that said the efi 460's were junk and your better off sticking to carb. I doubt they were using a spyder intake and all that though prolly just a stocker.

I guess I can fill ya's in on why I asked this.

Urban sent me a link last night to a guy selling a complete 460 intake to oil pan. i posted up a message in his thread asking if he still had it because someone else was asking about it. If it was still available and I could get my dad to loan me the money I would drive to RI and pick it up. But he hasn't gotten back to me if its still for sale or not

Those are expensive but would have better hood clearance.Doesn't accufab make those throttle bodies like that. I guess you could have a carbed intake converted for efi, and use a accufab throttle body atop.

Why not stroke a dart block? I mean it is not going to be cheap to put a heavy arse 460 in a mustang...esp. wanting to keep it efi.

Neat is neat but for the power, amount of cubes you can have from a dart 351 block, weight, and not to mention tuning issues as few have done it. I would go with a stroker 351 even a mild N/A 393+ (if you dont want a big inch dart) would prob. be all around a better performing setup.

Remember a trans is also going to be needed. That kinda leaves what...a c6...welcome to 4,000lb curb weight in a uni-body car that has 2/3's of a frame.

Good luck though if you go threw with it.

That last one is a steal ,and those dove heads weren't bad heads for their time either. I had it was a 70 or 71 429 that had those, but I ended up letting the motor and tranny go to a guy for 400.00,wish I had kept it now. He ended up using it for a mud truck.

Didn't Holley make a fuel injection system? I think they called it the "Pro-Jection". It was just a GM type TB with injectors that sat on top of a Holley flanged intake manifold. It should fit under a Cobra hood. I think they even offered a "dual four" version. You had full tunability from the "brain" that controlled the injectors.

You could shed some weight and make some power with aluminum Cobra Jet heads. I think it would be cool. I haven't seen a lot of them done. Do it right, though. Make it worth the effort.

None of those ebay ads appear reliable enough to spend the money.

SGS said the engine cost $7k. I dont know the exact setup.

OK heres a thought.

I was looking on ebay and theres a 460 on there. Says it was out of a 92 truck and the guy just pulled it out yesterday and it ran when he pulled it out. Theres no bids but he has it started at 199. Say I could get it for 2-300 rebuilding it would probablly be a couple hundred it would still be cheaper then a rebuilt 302 or any kinda stroker you see now days. Even if it wasn't pulled out yesterday if you rebuild it there should be no issue unless the block is toast which I doubt.

It would be big powerful and most of all different cause how many sn95's got 460's

AND its in PA so it wouldn't be far to drive to get it. I think it was only a few hours away

$7k is a monster engine. It is a stroked 460. As to getting it rebuilt for a couple hunerd... I hope you can...but that does not sound realistic at all. No swap over is cheap and swaping a 460 is going to be tougher than a h/c/i or 331/347 or 408 or + c.i. I hope you can do it for cheap though, that would be awesome..I am not sure how though... Aren't headers a consideration? I had to get new headers AND rebuild my h-pipe just to get the 414 to fit.
