well to start off, i have 1969 mustang and i want to drop a fuel injected small block in it. i was thinking of going with a CHP 427 or 408 stroker or a DSS 408 stroker. and toping it off with some trickflow heads and intake with an agressive cam, possibly one of the kits that are offered for the 351w base. i want to go with a mass air system for sure. i am not sure if this will be an N/A or supercharged engine (depends on budget). my question to everyone is about the ECU. what would everone recomend as far as a factory fox computer or possibley an aftermarket if availible. i was recomended to use the A9L or A9P (i will be using a tremec 600 manual trans) i looked at some ECU's online at stangparts.com and they have the option to choose a calibration code. either an E7SF-CA or the E7SF-EA... i dont know what the difference between the two are.

i just need your recomendations as to what ECU to use and/or your input on the engine combination.

thanks

If I were going to build a serious fuel injected engine such as the one your planning I would either run an A9P or A9l with a TwEECer or a F.A.S.T. system.

It really won't matter what calibration you end up getting if you decide to tune the ecm for your specific combo. A Tweecer will allow you to tune the eec for the combo or you could take it to someone to tune. The F.A.S.T. system is based on speed density so you wouldn't need a mass air ecm. I think the big thing is to come up with a serious plan of attack for this project and then decide.

Either of the A9 computers would do ok with the setup you described, with out any manipulation from a tuner.

You will be happier with a little tuning though, as you will be able to smooth out the idle, correct for the aggressive cam, and tune for best power.
Moving into boost will make the tuner almost required though.

There are several alternatives to the tweecer, but that seems the most common.

Scan through the 5.0 tuning forum if you want to explore some of the options.

Keep us informed on how it goes, I love the efi conversions in the old stangs

i just checked with a local performance shop to see if they had any left over fox parts... luckly they have an A9L ECU they are selling me for like 50 bucks and my buddy has an extra mass air harness to give to me for free. now i just need to break open the piggy bank count some change and buy some sweet stuff...if only it happens that fast...we'll see
