Fuel injection?

Hey guys, I have a 289 that I am working on putting in my Cj2a Jeep project. I am rebuilding the engine and I was wondering how easy it would be to convert this engine over to fuel injection? Could i use some old stuff off a 302, is there a year with fuel injection an no mass air meter? Any kits available?

This is a 1966 289 if that helps at all. I would love to just use a old 302 in the swap but obviously this jeep doesn't have, nor does it need a computer in it. I am trying to keep this as simple as possible. Thanks!

Anything prior to 89 on a 5.0 302 is speed density, but why would you want speed density? Both mass air cars and speed density cars require a computer so why not go with a mass air so the system can adapt to any modifications on it's own. Mass air systems have an amazing capacity to compensate for mods and still runn well, not that you can't get even better with a chip. We had a friends car going mid 12's with stock fuel injection and a NA engine.

You will need the entire engine control system off of late model Mustang to complete your project.....everything. Intake/injectors/all the sensors/ wiring harness/ and computer. It is not a bad swap, I put one in a 1986 Bronco 2 summers ago and it is pretty straight forward if you are good with this kind of stuff. If you have no knowledge of the fuel injection system and are weary of wiring then you are going to need some help.

Thanks for the responce. Since this is a 289 and its only in a Jeep and I am not good with electrics and current, I dont want to load this jeep with wires and harnesses. I was just hoping of having an advantage when the engine is running at angles.

Seems pretty sofisticated for the task at hand. I guess I would need some help with it.
