Fuel Line disconnect tool.. PITA!!!!!

OK this car has been fighting me the whole way. I run to AutoZone and grab some of those plastic fuel line thingys. I drop the tank tonight and read the instructions and follow them word for word.. Wrap it around the line push it in and pull the line and nothing.. JUST DAM!!!!!!!!
So I called it a night.. maybe I wasn't holding my mouth right or something. I will try again tomorrow

if you got the plastic set, they wont work (these work on the lines under the hood tho). You need to get both the anodized metal red and blue ones which are like $15 a piece. These are the ones that will disconnect the lines on top of the tank.

I got those lines off with plastic ones..they look like a top hat kinda. You gotta get those in the coupling seated right and then put your 2 fingers in there and pull..should pop off.

I got them at salvo auto parts. I had to call my mechanic first b/c I had trouble too. He gave me the confidence by saying they do work you just got to get a good feel for it. I was ready to give it up too.

If I remember the correctly, it had a cut throught the center of it to fit it around the line. After I got one off, the others were easy cause I got the hang of it. Good luck.

Those connectors are usually a severe pita to seperate sometimes,even with the right tool.

I`ve had trouble pulling them apart.
Good luck and when you`re trying to seperate,make sure the tool is always fully inserted into the connector and expanding the spring.

They go together easy,but come apart hard.

I just noticed your build up on Car Domain.. Looks good, but I would really consider moving the pass side turbo up atleast a few inches, even if it takes a days work. You are going to have major issue with oil drain back on that turbo,a nd ground clearence, unless you are running a scavening pump. Doesnt look like too much more work to pull it up a good 4" or so.

You can use the plastic ones to remove the lines from the fuel tank, I did it. You just have to push pretty hard and kinda wiggle it.

Oink I bought a scavage pump. works really well... As for the clearance issue I was worried at first, but its 8" of clearance between it and the ground. My front air damn hangs down 3" furthat than the turbo..

After I get the fuel pump done I have to fight with an injector stuck in the open position..

Ok for anyone dropping thier fuel tank. Run to Pepboys and pick up the metal scissor type fuel line disconnect tool.. 8 bucks and save alot of headaches.. after I picked up the tool it took me 5 mins to do 2 lines. 30 mins later the pump was swapped..
Now I have to order a new fuel tank grommet from Ford my old one was dry rotted and ripped..

I got the multi-tool metal one from auto zone. Once you get it inside the spring, I pushed the connector in and the line just pulled right out. You may have to push in/pull out a couple times though.
