Fuel Pump Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the relay should be under the drivers seat. on later cars (i.e., some 92 and 93's, its on pass strut tower area). test it for proper juice. im braindead, but i thought there was a fusable link for the fuel pump (i could be thinkin of another car).
anyhow, check for proper juice and ground. as i recall, the puter sends a ground pulse to the relay to activate the relay and pump.

ok, looks like orange/light blue is constant 12 volts to the relay. this wire has the fusable link (should be off the starter solenoid).

pink/blck is juice from the relay to the pump.

if that all checks out, check pump and specifically its ground.

im not positive on how the sourcing for the relay works.
i know the tan/lt. green comes from the computer. i think it is a ground pulse (should show ground when priming, etc)

there should be red/blk coming from the inertia switch.
these two appear to be the coil wires for the relay.

Pink/blue should go from the relay to the pump. 12 volts when relay energized (or when one wire above shows 12 volts, and the other shows ground at the same time).

orange and light blue are the feed source for the pump (from the starter solenoid).

it sounds like the fusable link and/or the wire from the solenoid is bad. this is the orange and light blue wire. check the fusable link. as said, its off the solenoid. you should have juice blazing through that wire.

the fact that it is anemic would explain why the pump doesnt run (this wire is connected to the pink blue wire when the relay is energized).
go probe the fusable link on either side of it. replace as needed (it is orange and blue at the link too). should be 18 gauge link

to correct your post before the last. the fuel pump relay cant function with out power and ground. in this case, the first two i list are power and ground (when both are present, they energize or turn on the relay). then the orange and blue wire with power is connected to the wire that goes to the pump, providing power.
make sense? oh, and please use a DMM to check wires. a test light can overdraw a circuit on the computer. kinda like testing a light socket at your house by hooking an industrial air conditioner to it. way too much for the lowly house plug to handle.

i have a 86 mustang that is going thru this same problem. the pump does not run. i have power at the inertia switch. power at every wire on the pump relay plug except the pink an black wire. and all my fusible links are good. the pump works when straight wired. is there something im missing? any thing i need to check? also is there a repair manuel that has a proper wiring diagram? mine has the 86 in it but it shows a cfi set up. is a 87-88 like my 86? or is 86 diif? i'ld like to get it running. got a nice 347 out of my 72 maverick that keeps eyeballing it. but first i need fuel. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

86, i know you have posted this question a time or two. i dont know if the wiring for yours is like the later foxes. i would really check the ground trigger from the computer if all else looks good. if you have sufficient juice to the relay to feed the pump, and the inertia switch has continuity through itself, thats where i would look.
also, Jrichker has said you can replace the fusable link for 14 gauge wire and a 15 amp fuse. probably the route i would go. i dont like links.

oh uh.........wired it up and i think i blew the relay.....

but the solineod sparked i think caused some problems.....im thinkin the fuse link for the fuel pump since its not priming and it looks to be cut into the wire i guess got cut being in there too tight but is there a way to figure if thats it or not.
