I was in a n accident a week ago and it was hit in the front and now when I try to turn it over it won't start. Is there a reset for the fuel pump?I heard that when your in an accident they shut off so as not to cause a fire.
Yes, there is a crash sensor switch that shuts off the fuel pump circuit based on an impact. The reset handle is in hatch area I think. On a four cyl notch, it is just inside the trunk on the taillight panel. The owners manual should show you the location.
The inertia switch on a GT should be by the drivers side tail light. There should be a plug, if not, just unscrew the panel and it should be right there. You can't miss it.
mine (if i remember correctly) is right about where the hatch lock mechanism is. you should be able to look down in the center (on the inside between your tailights) and see a little box in there. you might have to remove that long plastic piece (same one you remove to take your taillights out) and i believe that mine has a push button reset, not a handle.
Just happen to have an 88 Mustang EVTM (wiring book) in front of me. Shows the Inertia switch on the left side of the tail lite panel in the spare tire well. Its a black plastic box with a red reset button on the top. It has a metal bracket holding it to the back panel with 2 screws.
you can access the electrical connector at the inertia switch. I would do this and be sure you have 12 volts in and out. the switches are known for making bad connections.
you can also check for spark. if there, check the FP relay and note the values for each terminal in the relay socket. Jrichker has a great checklist for systematically diagnosing no start situations.
