Fuel Pump Questions

This usually happens when you pump is going to give up on you. I would get a new pump before it leaves you stranded somewhere. Trust me the little money you spend on a new pump now will be worth not having to put up with the aggrevation of being stranded somewhere.

That's kind of what I was thinking. What really sucks is we have Pony Trails on Friday and I have to finish the head install on the Firebird before I can put the Mustang in the garage. Looks like I'd better accelerate the program.

The manual made mention of some special tool for removing the retaining ring. Is this necessary, and if so, are there any substitions for doing the job?
