I am putting a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump in my 92 mustang GT. The Walbro is slightly larger in diameter than the old pump. Therefore, the new pump will not fit the stock fuel pump bracket. Has anyone ever ran into this? I would apperciate any suggestions on what I need to do to get the new pump in.
Thanks,
Rodney

I read lots of articles about that upgrade and none of them mention any issues with the bracket. I'll be following your post closely since I will be doing the same installation on my ride, please post any new findings.

Thanks Guys!

My bracket has a circular bowl at the end. That's what is causing the problem. Attached is a picture:

Mine didn't have that. What's the PN on your pump?

never seen that style bracket before... the ring around the bottom of the bracket is odd to me...what brand is your old pump?

The old pump has these numbers on it:

E2061 124B

That's all I see on it.

my pump was like that also, i think it may be an aftermarket pickup...all i did to get the pump to fit in is cut one side of the ring around the bottom and spread it open a little... with the hose connected it sits in there really nice... i've ran a few different pumps that way with no issues...

Thanks!

I brought the bracket to work and got the guys in maintenance to strech it for me. They heated it up with a torch and then drove a larger pipe into the cup. The spot-welds that held the cup to the bracked broke while they were hitting it with a hammer. After streching it, they sent the bracket to our tool shop to have the cup spot-weled back on the bracket.

That is probably the largest amount of effort I've ever heard about being exerted on a fuel pump change. lol

Good you got it all worked out though.

I don't think it was the original pump. The pump out of my 92 LX was made by Walbro and carries the part number F23U-9350-A2A with is a Ford part number indicating a fuel pump originating in 1992.

I got my 255 lph Walbro from here -->> FULL THROTTLE SPEED - 5.0 MUSTANG HP PUMP KIT - Kit Configuration Page

It looks like this:
