can anyone tell me what the factory fuel pump is worth?

I have a MagnaCharger running 6psi right now putting down mid 12's in the quarter. When should I look at getting a high volume fuel pump or boost-a-pump in and is there a huge difference besides the big jump in price between the new pump and a boost-a-pump box?
 
Search the supercharger and turbo vendors. Look at their different level kits and see what fuel supply is recommended.

I have but now I am looking to take the next step with my MagnaCharger and run more than the 6psi I have now but worry about running my 39lb injectors or stock fuel supply system to the max and going lean flirting with the Redline. I was hoping there was some S197 chart with basic ideas like, 450rwhp you should have at least XXlb injectors and at XXXrwhp you need twin pumps or something like that..... I am very new to the world of boost as every car (12) in the past has been N/A bolt on cars....
 
I'm no expert, but what I've heard from several tuners and people running f/i, the stock pump should be good up to about 400-425 RWHP. Anything more than that, you should definitely upgrade! Seems a lot of people use the GT500 pump.
 
I am no expert either. Certainly the least mechanically inclined on our little team. Our car has gone from stock pumps to a piggy-back pump, to the GT500 duals + 2 single KB BAPs, to the Lethal triple pump system with megadriver and now a return-style small fuel cell (being built).

The only thing I can tell you for sure....is DO NOT play around with your fuel system. Just enough fuel is not enough. If you are going to increase boost, you are going to get a dynotune. A good tuner will look at duty cycles, load etc etc. Do not race your car on the fuel system's edge. At each incremental rise in boost and hp, we moved up to a fuel system capable of handling the increase comfortably.
 
My stock pump at 6.5 - 7#s with almost 420rwhp is at at its limit. A cheaper option than the GT500 pumps is the Ford GT pump. Single pump that will support what the stock block and internals can handle easy. You would see about a 25% reduction over stock pump. SD and a few others ran this setup. You can get it for about $150 verses the $650 GT500 setup.

Something that I have always wondered and never remember to ask is why the for GT had a single huge pump and the GT500 has twins. It probably has to do with the mustang using a saddle style fuel tank
