I have a question about the mysterious and missing fuel switch that is to be used with the 87 t-bird coupes. There is supposed to be a regular/premium switch that will only alow the turbo to make about 9 psi on regular setting. My mustang has a 87 tc engine with a t3 turbo and no switch but I will be using 93 octane and a gillis valve so I should be able to boost it up around 18-20 right? I have the overboost light but that's it. I finally have the new 87 t-bird eng, tranny and driveshaft installed. All I have left are the sensors, injectors, belt, and upper intake. I should have it running tommorrow. By the way, I have a in-line 190 LPH pump with 35# inj setup. If the switch isn't on the car, it should still be ok with the gillis right?

I just found info on Project Horsepower 91-93 tc swap. Apparently if the fuel switch wasn't installed I have to run on premium all the time. I guess i'll be able to boost it up then.

I was under the impression that without the switch it will run on the low octane setting.

It's very simple to wire the premium fuel switch in. Pick one up from an '87-'88 TC parts car and install it. Now you have a choice of running regular or supreme. After all, life is all about choices, isn't it? The wiring instructions are in the link below.

Click on the link below, then 'Slugstang', then '85 how-to's' and towards the bottom of the page is the info.
