You want the car to sit down on its suspension before the sub-frames are welded on! If you use a frame/body lift to support the car during the installation it will cause all sorts of alignment and tracking problems.
If you were doing the SFC install yourself and didnt have access to a lift you could lower the car onto jack stands using the spring perches to simulate the load of a drive on lift, I know because I have done it without problems. Otherwise yes, a drive on lift is require unless you want the doors to stick shut or not close at all.
