Hey guys its been awhile, but I have been checking out the g-force t5's for the future. I noticed that it will be a lot cheaper for me to get a free used one from a friend and do the upgrade kit. My question is what is the difference between the dog ring upgrade kit and the synchro upgrade kit?

Check out this link for more info: http://g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_t-5_price.asp

Also anyone have any experience with this tranny and what should i expect from this. With my combo and rear gears the car will be pretty rough with a 3-speed c6. Will i like it a lot better than the c6? Anyone who has had experience with this please let me know. Thanks a lot guys.

I THINK the dog ring is a gear that doesn't need a clutch to shift maybe? I think I may have read about this somewhere. I'm planning on doing this same thing next year as well if the funds are available after my body/paint work.

I just sent them an email so I'll see if they have a response to this question.

The dog ring setup does not use the 3 piece cone setup that the stock ones do. There is approx. 3-6 clutching teeth on one side of the slider and the same machined in the gear. This allows quicker gear shifting since you don't have to wait for the cone setup to slow down the desired gear.

While great for drag racing, they will be noisier and not as refined for street driving.

I haven't been able to buy their kit yet but it really looks and sounds like a quality product.

Sounds good I will. Now i have another question for you guys. My friend is hooking me up with a t5 and bellhousing for $100 and i will be going to pick it up soon. How can i identify what year 5.0 the tranny came out of? Also will it make a difference what the current torque rating is if I'm doing the t5 upgrade? Im guessing not because it replaces the whole set of gears input shaft and all, but I want to be for sure before I go and blow money on this. And finally, if there is no vin on the tranny can i identify it visually? I don't want one from a 94-95 5.0 im guessing. I ask because my friend doesn't know for sure.

I am thinking also about the G-Force kit. I already have a T-5 core and I will rebuild myself. The problem that I have is spending near $1500 for the internals which include upgraded parts, compared to the new Tremec TKO600. You can buy the Tremec for around $1600 which can handle atleast 600 lbs or torque. The G-Force is rated at 500 lbs. The Tremec also is already built and has a warranty. I know the rumors that the Tremec is a tight fit in the Mustangs but still don't know for sure. You ask 10 people and half will say you must cut the tunnel and the other say it fits with no cutting. I do know the Tremec is a stronger tranny but if your torque numbers are lower, you won't have to worry. Just a thought that is killing me. Good luck.

I will also be upgrading to the g-force in the next month or so. Don't skimp on the main shaft. I've heard tell of the tranny holding up fine, but the stock mainshaft giving way to big torque. Let me know how yours works.
