Gamo .177 break barrel

I have been trying to get this big azz squirrel in the pasture since i got the pellet gun ,today he stuck his head up one to many times! He flipped out of his hole ,there was a hen quail with about 14 chicks and a big male ,the male quail jumped on that squirrel like a big rooster ,never seen anything like that before,he waddled off like he was hot chit!

Too bad you didn't get video! I've seen some on Youtube with roosters going after mice, never knew chickens were carnivorous! They really are related to velociraptors!

Well ,i ran out of red fire pellets ,no one has them so i had to get blasters! They are the same pellet but with a bb in the end . They do not shoot the same ,had to resight.
You can not shoot from a rest and hit any where close free handed ,i dont know if it jumps that much or what .
From a rest ,i put 15 pellets in pretty much the same hole ,it cut a slot a half inch wide dead center of the bulls eye! Tried it free handed and it hit 2 inches low and 1 inch to the right . Re sighted free handed and put 10 in a quarter sized bulls eye and 4 just out side the bulls eye with one 4 inches high . Instantly got a rabbit first shot after resighting . Weird gun for sighting but once it in it good !
Once you sight for a certain pellet keep using that pellet ,other pellets shoot differently .
I like the blasters ,they are slower but when it hits the bb keeps going right through a metal 5 gallon bucket !

This is usually due to not having the same contact patch with the rifle in each position.

The easiest way that I know of to fix this is by using a peep-sight. Even if it's not on your current or favorite gun, practice with a peep-sight can help cure this.

So, break out and practice with your un-modified, naked AR-15. :D

I found the gamo red fire pellets at wallymart ,they are way more accurate than the others . Took a few shots to sight back in for the red fires but at 50 feet free hand i can live with this! The first patern is before sighting ,the second is as sighting you can see the pattern moving in as i sighted . Thats about a quarter size dot 20240607_105541.webp 20240607_105717.webp

How the hell can it be more accurate at 60 feet than at 50 feet?
I did have a bench to rest my hip against but still free hand ! I also removed the 3 rubber plugs in the butt pad ,that may have made it absorb the jump a bit .
I think a carry strap i could wind my arm in would also help .
Now i need a red dot ,and it would also need a laser ! It does hit just a bit high but i can lower my aim as the dead center shots show. That is 15 shots . This thing is really fun to shoot and got 2 more squirrels but they are getting smart! 20240607_190947.webp 20240607_190344.webp

The squirrels are getting smart ,they dont come out very often . I set up my chair under an elm tree about 75 feet from a wood pile. I used the 177 because it shoots farther than the 22 ,i sat there for about 20 minutes when a squirrel pops out and stands straight up ,i get a good aim on him when something moves behind him ,bunny rabbit ! I wait a second and he moves right behind the squirrel ,i figure i would get one of them and take the shot and to my surprise i knocked them both down in one shot ,has to be my best shot ever !
Looking into a red dot ,big 5 doesn't have one for a air rifle so i am going into sportsman's warehouse to see what they have .

Well ,the squirrels have become wise and will not come out .
I had a bunch of almost empty spray paint cans so i set them up ,aint nothin funner to shoot than a spray can! Nice little puff of paint clouds up when the can is hit.
I had one that was full ,the nozzle stem broke off so no way to spray it ,i saved it for last ! I hit it dead center and it took off like a helicopter haha ,straight up and made the biggest sparkly cloud of silver paint ever haha! Now i want more spray cans ...wonder what a rustolium turbo can will do, Hmmmm!

Forget those expensive gamo pellets ! I ran out of 177 so i had to buy crossman premier hollow points ,7 bucks for 500 while the gamo is 12 bucks for 150.
The crossman are quite a bit more accurate. This is 15 shots at 60 feet ,5 hit just outside of a quarter sized dot ,the rest were in ,even stacking some . 20240618_191821.webp 20240618_191727.webp
This is 15 from the same distance . 20240618_191737.webp
Got 3 squirrels after a bit of target practice at about 80 feet . Been shootting targets for the last couple of day just to get sighting with distance figured out ,at 80 feet i have to aim at the top of the squirrel for a dead center shot . At 60 feet it dead on !

I would ,but i cant have it around my dogs ,the groves around here use big plastic pipe with an entrance just big enough for a squirrel to get in ,they had the squirrels under control for several years until they abandoned several orange groves next to us ,now the squirrels are taking over
