Okay, so after seeing someone else with a similar issue come up in another thread of a different topic, I wanted to post this question.

My gas gauge seems to always be way off. As mentioned by another user, you can hit 200-250 miles and the gauge will show empty (or beyond empty) but you will still have 100 or more miles left.

So, is there a way to correct this issue and get a correct readout on the stock gauge? Do aftermarket gauges work better (if so, which one)? Or do you need a new sensor for the tank or something?

Thanks!

That last 100-miles left in the tank after it reads empty is a little insurance against running out of gas for guys who like to run their tanks low before filling them up. It's not good for the fuel pump to be run below 1/5 of a tank, so most car companies give you that little extra after it reads empty.
