I get a bit of a fuel smell to my oil from time to time depending on how hard ive been beating it between the oil change. No fuel in the oil though .
Therein lies your solution as to "why doesn't it make more power" with it on.
Ask Santa for a cam ground in this century. One that has a lobe separation that is more boost friendly.
That cam has a 110 degree lobe angle. Typical power adder cams go somewhere in the 112-114 maybe even higher.
Consult the great @84Ttop. He should be able to add some insight on what cam profile would be happier having air forced past the valves.

If you just love alphabet cams get an F303. It has 512 lift and a 114 lobe separation angle. Its a little more boost friendly than the E cam.
But,.....now you know better...Nope don't love em this engine started life a few years ago.... before I knew any better.
