Gas mileage

What kind of fuel economy can i expect with my '92 2.3 a4ld hatchback? i just got it and haven't gotten it running yet, so just out of curiosity i was wondering what to expect. what do you guy run city/highway?

I get around 20 MPG, but I have a 5-speed. Its getting a tune-up (plugs, caps, etc.) next time I change the oil so hopefully it will go up some. You should get around 20 but the A4LD gets less MPG compared to the 5-speed.

I get about 24-28mpg in mine with a mix of driving. On the HW I was able to almost 30mpg before I started making mods.

that's it?!?jeez, my '88 country squire 4500LB 5.0 LoPo station wagon gets 22-25! and the '88 5.0 GT convertible i used to have got 17MPG with me treating the gas pedal like a toggle switch! I bought it for gas mileage, so i hope to AT LEAST get around 30 on the highway and 20 city. is this resonable?

That auto trans is not great for mileage. 5 speed is better. I beat the crap out of mine and get 29 on the highway @ 75-80.If I drove my age I'd get much better mileage.

how tough would it be to convert to a 5 speed? when i eventually swap in a V-8 i want it to be a stick anyway, so this way i would at least have the pedal setup done when that day comes.

I get 30mpg combined city/highway, and mine is not even tuned properly right now. Mind you, I have a 5 speed and a fresh motor.

You have to post in the Tec section for your counter to go up.
