Gas miles, is this look true to yall ?

My friends just got a scan tool, that hook up to your car computer, and it tell you how much gas miles, or scan code, **** like that, any way he was tell me that this scan tool help him know how many mpg his car get, and he was very happy that he had 30mpg on his 01 nissan frontier 2.3L auto, and told him i got around 12mpg, so we did the test, i hook up on my stang, and around town i got 25-28mpg, and on the high way I got around 30mpg !!!! I stang is complete almost stock and maintain very well. but their no way that is true !! on a v8 ??

Around town MPG seems way off, thats economy car mileage in town. 30mpg is possible on the freeway, especially if you are rockin the 3.08 gears out back.

Most of us that see those kind of #'s are between 25-27mpg if we are lucky. I have seen 25mpg in mine before.

I have one of those scan gauge devises. It's pretty accurate as far has how much fuel I use between fill ups. I've seen gas milage higher than what you are seeing. However, you'll also notice fuel mileage drop on hills, starting from dead stops and while accelerating and other driving circumstances. It all averages out. I've played around with the scan gauge some. Since I'm not driving my Stang now, I may move it over to my truck. Pearl02.

30mpg in a 4 banger nissan frontier? That engine is wheezing to pull the weight of that slimmed down XTerra. No way it's getting 30mpg. I wait until my tank is as close to empty as I can get - fill it up all the way and text myself the number of gallons I put in. Then I reset my trip odometer and write number of miles I get down before the tank is near empty again. The divide the number of miles you drove by the number of gallons required to fill the tank BACK UP to full. This give you the average miles per gallon you got on that tank.

I got 30mpg in the blown stang at 55-60 for a few hundred miles stuck behind a semi.

The way computers read gas mileage is very decieving though, would only trust the gas reciept calculated with miles meathod (assuming working speedo)

those scan tools estimate the gas usage in real time. so yes, you may be getting 25mpg in the city for a very short time. but as soon as you accelerate or stop, it will instantly drop.

well on the way back from gustauv i was following my girl and her dad. he was pulling the camper she was behinde him and i was behinde her. i was no wheres close to him to worry bout drafting. we were going bout 60-65 i got 31.5 mpg. goin up hills and down u no using cruis control. i was so happy to see that. she has a hundai accent the hb with the 4banger and she only got like 2mpg better. i told her i didnt have to down shift like her car does to go uohill so i was good. the power of the v8 vs the exhaustion of a 4banger

i just shocked the crap outta myself when i did the math from a trip the other day, 26.1 mpg!! most all interstate and highway driving though, but wow

the lowest my car has ever gotten is like 26 highway, but I'm usually doing like 55 in 5th with the cruise control locked in. Our freeways are covered in speed cameras, and I'm never in that much of a hurry.

This is all city driving, never really drive on the freeway, everything I need to get or go to is right around the corner.

I get crappy mileage round town but up to 25mpg highway (auto).

I get crap mileage around town in the Mach when I was driving it to work. It was all stop & go & I was averaging 14-16mpg. I usually get about 23mpg on the hwy, but I drive 70-80 mph....

My average is about 8-10 mpg, it's winter so about a 3-5 minute warm up, then a short drive (less than 3 miles) to work, rinse repeat.

But even though I'm getting 100 or less miles on a tank, I'm only filling up every 2 weeks so it more than balances out
