I was cleaning my car out the other day and sweeping out the floor boards and noticed my gas pedal was twisted. Looking closer I found the pedal attached to a thin u-groove metal channel. I reached in and literally straightened it out with my hand.
I went to my local track this past wednesday and ended up runing almost 5mph faster in the quarter! It makes me wonder if the twist in the pedal was robbing me of travel. Anyways, I made sure to check the pedal after each run and pull it out.
A couple of monthes ago I swapped in a set of Comp Cams which dynoed at 70HP higher than previous. The initial run at the track after this did not net a faster time. Needless to say I was bumbed.
When I went last wednesday not only did I net out 5mph faster (121mph) but all of a sudden my suspension shortcomings became immediately evident (wheel hopping, lack of traction, etc..). It was a different car all together. I have since ordered a set of MM LCA's which will be installed ASAP as well as a front sway bar disconnect when I go again. By the way I'm running weld prostars all around, 15x10 in the back with Nitto drag tires at 12psi.
That being said has anyone else experienced this? Are there any aftermarket pedal assemblies to combat this? If so what was your take on them. I'm very interested in others experiences and may even get a few of you to check your own.
Thanks for the feedback!
