93 octane and I only use top-tier gasoline. 93 octane because why wouldn't you? The Coyote produces more hp with higher octane. I only use top-tier gas because I want the fuel I put in my vehicle to actually be beneficial and not leave deposits and hamper engine performance. I generally use Shell but will use BP or Chevron also.

I like Sunoco 87 octane. I drive it 40 miles round trip to work, so I prefer to save a little. Never been in a position where I wish I had filled it with 93 either. Although, when I do the math, it's probably only about $20-$25/month savings. But, when you buy a Mustang that's $10k more expensive than you bring home in a year, you gotta be cheap.

Right Now I'm trying Shell 93 V-nitro to see how the car runs. I just did my first tank and will do 2 more. Then I'll Try BP for 3 tanks and then Exon / Mobil.

Right now the only thing I know for sure is the weather effects the performance more than anything. Hot over 90 humid days, sucks the life out of the car.

More octane allows for the engine to run more aggressive timing and that means more power. I use 93 octane, usually Phillips 66, BP, or Shell.

Shell or Chevron 92. That's the best available to me here. I just turned 10k on the odometer and no troubles so far. Probably would not be driving everyday had I bought the GT. I would have felt bad about putting so many miles on it. I don't baby this thing either. I been having fun throwing down with some of the local tuner boys and kick g their asses. I try to tell them it ain't always just about power. Gearing and just plain getting the power to the ground at the appropriate time makes a big difference.

I'm running 92 or 93 depending on what's available here. The Shell station local decided that we must be rich, or that they wanted to be and jacked up the premium price to crazy, so I've had to seek other sources.

They actually recommend a minimum octane rating of 87 for the GT. They recommend 87 for the V6 and the Ecoboost. You lose HP using 87 octane (35 HP in the Ecoboost). The 435 hp rating in the GT came with 91 octane. You will lose 1% of the HP rating using 87 octane.

A 1 percent loss for a car rated at 310 horsepower would be 3.1 horsepower. A 35 hp loss would be about a 31 percent loss.

The GT loses 1%. The Ecoboost suffers a 31% loss using 87 octane over premium.

My math is wrong. Was good at math in my younger days. That is about an 11 percent loss. 35 percent would be more than 100 hp

My math was wrong too since I didn't even bat an eye at your numbers. It is a pretty big loss in power no matter which way you do the math. If you are getting the Ecoboost for performance then you should use premium.
If you are getting one for gas mileage and economics, use 87. As you stated earlier, Ford recommends 87 in the Eco and V6.

I use 87, get 34 MPG and more on the highway and have plenty of power. I may try higher octane just to see if I can feel the difference.

You will probably not 'feel' any difference at all. It takes a roughly, 30 HP difference for the Seat Of The Pants dyno to kick in. Where the difference will show is in responsiveness, and a 3-ish HP difference over the entire range of RPM.

On a race track, that difference will become apparent pretty quickly. Between your house and the door of the Safeway? Probably not too much unless you're the type that's door to door with someone every time a light turns green.

On a side note: I would have no issues whatsoever running 10% Ethanol. It's cheaper, comes by it's octane rating honestly, and late models are designed to use it. Fuel system parts were designed to use it and fuel injectors are sized accordingly for it. The only real difference that you will ever notice is that you get more distance out a full tank of straight gas vs. 10%.

My old boosted pushrod? Yes, I prefer straight gas when I can find it. You all's cars? Hell, I wouldn't give 10% a moment's thought. It's nice to have computers able to adapt to fuel potential.

I run ethanol free gas, but it is more expensive per gallon compared to the "top tier" stations. I did notice a improvement in fuel economy and overall throttle response as well as idle quality. The improved fuel economy of 1-3 mpg does not offset the added cost per gallon though. So it is more expensive to run the ethanol free stuff, at least for me. I buy it anyway because of the improved way the engine runs and responds. (or at least perception of such) and around here 92 octane is as good as it gets, no 93 octane available.
