Gauge pods?

So I'm buying mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauges to install on the fox (a littl present to myself ). The thing is...I need 2 1/16'' holes for the gauges. I'm probably going with the Ultra Lite 2 series gauges (http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugeop.aspx?sid=61).

I'd like to have them in the AC vent, but the only gauge pod I can find is for the A pillar. The A pillar isn't bad, but I've been told it could be difficult running the mechanical gauges lines up the A pillar.

Any thoughts? I don't really want to install them below the radio..you can't even read them down there.

There is about 4 or so screws in a plate that covers the hole to the steering colum... I think. I've always taken one of those screws out and drilled the hole larger to accomodate the wiring. Then I just run everything up through or around the dash and out at the a-pillar. I've never used mechanical though.

As for the size, you should be able to find a 2 1/16 guage pod that will fit that.

when i had the dual pillar pod in the 89 i ran electric guages. only had to drill a small hole in the pillar trim for the wiring. but even going the pillar route you still have to drill holes for the pod. if your set on running mechanical guages go with the 2 5/8 setup with the guage cage vent peice. you can get just the standard ultra-lite in that size. wont have to cut as much to run the lines for your mech. temp and oil. just my .02.

I like the ultra lites, but the ultra lite 2's just look so awesome, and none of the good looking gauges come in 2 5/8''.

You dont want to run a oil pressure gauge inside the car without an isolstor anyway. Do you know what a busted line and a lot of Hot flowing oil does to the car? Let alone you? It sucks
