Gauges are all off....Please Help

I purchaed anpother gauge cluster on Ebay that was mostly disassembled. I replaced the faces with white face gauges and installed the needles. I need to know how to set the needles in the correct positions. When I bought them the needles were all off. Any suggestions and info would be greatly appreciated.

I would install the cluster in the car. Start it up and get it to operating temperature. Then put the temp needle @ 190*, put the oil pressure at the half way mark. Then rev up the motor and put the volt needle @ 14. Next fill up the tank and put the needle about 1/4" past the full line.

thx for the input....my voltage gauge wasn't working....when I swapped it with my stock on eit wordked perfect. I reconnected my old Autometer Tach and adjusted the tach accordingly. The temp is accurate to my fan switch. Fuel is correctly where it was on the original cluster. The only one that I did not test was the speedo. Which is off anyways cuz of my gears. Thanks for the input bro...I just need to put it all back together now....

You're welcome.

Why don't you get the correct gear for the transmission so the speedo will be right? It's very easy to replace.

It is on my punch list of things to do for the car....I am not exactly sure what it entails to change the transmission drive gear. I am assuming that I need to lower the tranny to do it...

It's easier then you think. All you have to do it unbolt the speedo cable and pull it out of the transmission. The gear is attached to the end of the cable. I can't remember exactly, but if I remember correctly there is a clip holding the gear to the end of the speedo cable. Just remove the clip, put new gear on and reinstall the clip. Then slide it back into the transmission and bolt it back done. It's very simple and can be done on you back in the driveway in no time at all.

You don't even need to jack the car up to change the speedo gear. My car is lowered and I did it. Just 1 small bolt (10mm i think) and it comes out. Very easy to do.

Wow, I didn't realize that it was that easy. I am going to have to do it sooner now. I don't drive the car a whole lot anymore. It spends most of it's life in pieces after I start some new project on it. My fixing the ash tray lid led to an entire interior removal, Dynomax, repair/replace/repaint broken and uncleanable parts and new carpets...

I will have to use a jack....My head doesn't fit under the car lol......
