been looking into gear's. my buddy has a rear end from a 93 gt that im gonna buy. it has 3.73's rebuilt posi around 2,000 miles on it from gt vert that the dash went up in a blaze .....

anyway...

for anyone looking into gears and wants to know around what there rpm's would sit with what i used this to figure it out... just enter your tranny gear rations, tire size, rear gear, and at what speed..

i plugged in my dads mustang numbers and there were only a few mph off...so there pretty accurate.

unless that rear end has disc brakes on it why bother? look for a rear end from a 94-94. you already have an 8.8, why spend more money???? you can always get a bigger set of gears after you do your 5 lug

becasue ive decided im holding off on a 5 lug swap for a bit becasue when i do do it i want to do it the right way and go with a rear disc and go sn95 up front but id rather do the gears and paint first..becasue..3.08's are lame...and how could i pass up this for 150 bucks? and i think im just gonna go with a set of ponys for a while.

Just go to the junk yard and get sn-95 parts, then you'll do it "the right way." Any by installing 3:73's over your 3:08's....its not like your gonna gain alot. Probably hardly even notice. And i'd do the brakes/rims first because it doesn't matter how nice your paint is... the rims make your car. Pony's suck, i dont' care how much you say they look good...you put them next to a chrome 17in or 18in rim and you'll know exactly what i mean. Sure Pony's look better then the Phone dial rims but they still suck.

well tell you what. you going to rent me a truck to get the rear end from a junkyard? you going to pay to have gears installed in that rear? gear installs are not cheap.

ponys look good with nice paint i dont care WHAT you say. im 16 on a shoe string budget.

150 for a rear end with 3.73's and a new posi is damn worth it to me... all the added cost of doing that right now are just plain un needed...your building what 2 cars right now? you obviously have a hell of alot of money saved or you are really racking up the credit card...which is something i have either of.


hell ya id take a set of 17' cobra's over ponys but for 200 bucks for a set of ponys ill take them.

and hell no i am not wasting my money...i want gears....

to have gear installed in my rear would mean a 2 hour drive plus 300 for gears to be installed plus the price of gears and a new posi...im very pickey on who works on my car nor do i like anyone else working on it...i perfer to do it myself.

ill just swap the rear end in my buddys driveway and be done with it.

well as long as you dont have a job and you keep spending money you are putting yourself into debt. then you make a post a week on how you are going to spend money on stuff that you already have, ask for stupid pics of cars without side moldings or make claims of your daily driven car and its painted interior that until perhaps a week ago had barely seen the road. wheres this all going?

and your point is? just becasue i dont have a job through a company dosent mean i aint making money. just not as much as before... the interior of my car is fine wtf bring that up? the door sills are the only piece i have a problem with...he is holding it for me till spring? got a problem with it?

oh and i never asked for pics of a car without side moldings... asked for a pic of a gt with the side skirts taken off or a lx with a gt bumper and a rear bumper!

and im not putting myself into debt unless im boring money which im not right now....what i do now i just dont make as much as i did before till jan when i can get a real job.
