So I'm about to pull the hammer shifter out of the 95 we bought to give back to the previous owners. I noticed the stock shifter didn't have the orange gear indicator in the correct place, so I shook it, and the crazy thing just fell in my lap. 
Has anyone taken the shifter apart to put it back in there? The black housing has what appears to be a one time press together plastic rivet type setup. I was thinking about removing the shift lever itself from the rest of the housing and trying to go in where the dust shields are.
