Does anyone know of a good shop (fair price) for gear install in Austin? It's hard to find many shops and the couple I've found and called want like 450-500 just for installation without parts. I don't think I should have to pay more than 250 or so. If anyone on here can do this and can give me a good deal let me know.

If you feel like driving up to DFW area, you'll find a few mechanics that will do it for $100. Buy the gears online for $200 or less, then come up to DFW some afternoon and pay around $100-150. Done.

I've got a mechanic here in Sugar Land (Southwest Houston area) that only works on Mustangs and does solid work. He says that he can install FRPP gears in about 2 hrs @ about $65/hr. Other gears (Richmond, etc.) are more of a PITA and take longer. You'll need to pick up a SpeedCal if you don't have a tuner. Or he can order one for you. They're about $100. When you add in the $40 in gas that you'd spend, that's still only about $300. You'd have to call him to let him know when you're coming in so he can clear a bay for you. I just tried their website and it appears to be down, so here's the number. (281) 491-4229. Ask for Kevin. I'll be getting my 3.73s in soon, so maybe I'll see you there.

Come down to San Antonio, there's quite a few poeple down here that will do it for a decent price. I had mine done at Lethal Performance. I was more than happy with Dany's work and if I remember correctly I only paid $150 or something like that. I know it was well under $200. I supplied the gears, oil, friction modifier, and a new crush sleeve.

Also, check out www.lonestarstangs.com . There's a few people there that do good work on the side.

Okay, thanks a lot guys. I will definitely use one of the sources that you guys recommended. I think I may do the trip to San Antonio and try Lethal Performance, sounds like a good deal.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

They do really good work. I have been dealing with them since it was Prewitt Racing and they do good work at fair prices.
