do I need a new pinion shaft? If so how much are they from Ford?

And what about the S-Spring, Ive heard about using one from a truck since it will make the rear end "beefier". Do I even need to get a new one? Or will I be able to use the old one?

wtf is a pinion shaft?

are you rebuilding your differential? if so then sure, get the new s-spring or buy a brand new diff for cheap.

No, you shouldn't need a new pinion shaft. Just be sure to use some sort of loctite when you put it back in.

As for the S spring I've heard of beefier ones. Essentually what you get is less slippage of the clutch packs in the rearend limited slip. You can acheive the same effect by installing an extra clutch pack.

FWIW when I did my gears @ 80K miles I did not rebuild the T-loc. I still leave two marks everytime I get on the go pedal. If you're leaving the one wheel peel then a T-loc rebuild is a good idea.

never heard that called a pinion shaft---that pretty confusing imo.

try johnbleakleyford.com for all your oe stuff---they have some killer deals. you can upgrade to 31 spline stuff for less than $500---03 cobra diff, frpp axles.

you should be able to get it out.

the S spring PASS it was a beech just to get the stock spring back in imagine it being stiffer

you'll ask later so, soak the friction disc in friction modifier.

Good luck on the install, just take your time and be exact on your torque settings and measurements and it will turn out fine. The thing he is calling the pinion shaft is the carrier cross pin. When you put your pinion bearing on heat it up in the oven for 30 minutes at 200* and it will slide right on to the pinion gear, just don't go any higher than that or you will draw the temper out of the pinion bearing.
