Gear Install - prices and shops

Okay, here it is in a nut shell: Paul Brady has sold Krazy Koncepts to ASD. Jon is still with the company. Some things are going to change initially. KK will now offer e-commerce and on site sales. Likewise, the installation services formerly offered will be unavailable for a period of time. I believe tuning will still be available. In time, KK will again be a full service shop. Anything I left out, ASD?

Need a programmer, ASD?

I'm thinking about getting some 3.55 gears for my 93 Cobra and was wondering what the going rate for gears, installation, and speedo recalibration runs these days?

Are there any recommended shops for getting this done? Seattle area is preferred but I wouldn't have a problem doing a road trip down to Vancouver, or even Portland, if the price is right at a competent shop.

Thanks!

Have you made a decision yet? DO NOT GO TO OREGON to get this done!! There are many shops in this area that can do a proper job. Try Total Performance in Tacoma or Pro Max, or Randy's Ring and Pinion in Everett, etc.

If you come to a Car Club Race, you'll meet people who can provide a network of connections to shops and individauls who can be trusted and who charge a fair price. I should've written numbers and names but I didn't bother since I see these people pretty often. I will ask around this Saturday and get some references for you. I know EJ ( "My Ford's Fly" on this site) is an excellent, professional, Ford mechanic. Send him a PM. He might do it for you. I am going to have him rebuild a transmission..

Exactly what he said. Randy's Ring and Pinion probably installs more gears in a week than most shops do in a couple of months. They are one of the largest dealers in the nation. Please don't drive all the way to Oregon, if it makes you feel better, you can just give me the leftover money it would have cost you to drive down there.:D

Nope, I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Mix of being too busy at the moment and I was also hoping to hear more recommendations for local shops. So far, I have heard nothing but praise for AFP.

I contacted BradsCustomAuto where I have had previous work done on the car. I trust those guys immensely but the quote I received for gears, install, and speedo recal seemed pretty spendy to me and it's considerably more expensive than what I was quoted at AFP.

StockLX50 - Thanks for the suggestion on EJ. I'll send him a PM. Doesn't he work at the shop with the dyno in Marysville? If so, I wouldn't mind getting a dyno run in as well. I'll also check out Randy's Ring and Pinion.

Brads Custom Auto in Seattle is great and they do tons of Mustangs and are in 5.0 Magazine all the time for their work.
E.J. at Marysville speed would be a good choice also.
Randys ring and Pinion in Everett like was said before is one of the biggest in the country for this stuff.
Bills custom auto and truck in Marysville, Bill is another Ford trained mechanic that could do it for you.

No need to dive all that way unless you want a road trip!:D
