Gear Q. Are they supposed to be constant pwr or 'wind up'

im not sure if these 3.73s are supposed to be like this or not. when you step on it sometimes the hp kinda seems to free up i should say. rpms will rise, faster, when like wide open. can anyone tell me if this is right? :shrug: i seems to be when the car is in lets say 2k in 3rd and you step on it. or even 2nd sometimes. :shrug:
 
I would always recommend 4.10s. Your only looking at a few hunderd RPM difference at cruise speeds. Youll notice the increased RPMs even less than I did, as I went from 2.73s to 4.10s, not 3.08s. Ill never go less than 4.10s now unless I build another turbo car.

gears offer linear advantage, but as you come into the powerband, it can feel as though it is spooling up. it is not, you are just feeling yourself get into and zip through the powerband more quickly now than you were before.

Right. All you have done is stepped up the ratio of turns of the wheel per turn of the crank. It is impossible for it to have a variance, that would involve having a rear end with multiple ratios like a transmission. What it will do is enhance your powerband exactly as it was. If your car is more low end torque than high end HP, then what you may notice is it zooms right through your powerband in no time and feel slower at the top- but that's just a matter of getting used to them and learning how to drive with them.
 
If your engine rpms go up super fast and your car is not moving forward that fast, your clutch may be going out.

If your nailing the gas pedal and the car is moving like a mother****er, it;s fine.
 
Joeelliot - it's easy to figure. It's all about simple ratios. 3.73/3.08=1.21. Your engine revs will be 21% higher than they are now. So if at 60 mph you're turning over 1500 rpm in top gear (just guessing), then you'll be turning over 21% faster with the 3.73's - about 1800 rpm.
