ive made some searches and i am still unsure as far as tunes are concerned. right now my car recently underwent the 4.10 gear upgrade and i want to recalibrate the speedo. my dealer charges $100 to recalibrate it but ive heard that certain "tunes" can do more than simply recalibrate the speedometer. my question is, are there any tunes in the price range of $100 that can fix my speedo and would be worth more than going to the dealer? keep in mind i have flowmaster 40s and the mustangtuning o/r x in my closet ready to be installed as well as a k&n on order. would the tune thing be better, and if so why?

Honestly you don't have enough mods for an all out tune. You can get a Speedcal for about 80 bucks and just install it yourself but if you get to a point and need a tune after some more modding then you will be out that cash one you get a good tune.

Either way you will be spending money after bad if you keep modding and require more tuning down the road. To me the simple recal flash of the computer or the Speedcal would be the best way to go instead of an all out tune for limited mods.

If you get a handheld tuner (roughly $350), you won't need MILs when you get that off road midpipe. You won't need a $125 timing advancer either. You'll be able to adjust a few more things including speed and RPM limiters, cooling fan on/off temps, etc. You'll also be able to read and clear DTC codes and datalog certain EEC parameters. It depends on how far you're gonna mod. If the gears and midpipe is it forever, then just get the Speedcal (then the MILs).

are you auto or manual?
If your manual their is no need to get a tune, just get a speedo gear unless your transmissions don't accept them, if you are auto then you will need to get your shiftpoints remapped aswell as your speedometer corrected.

When your mod list looks like mine

See my Garage

As mentioned the O2 sims are needed when you swap the exhaust. They are about 50-60 for the plug and play kind. If you can get a computer flash to shut off the check engine light and adjust for gears for under 150 go that route.

Since you have an auto, get a flash tuner.

The chip won't let you make your own adjustments. It'll cost you to get the tune changed by the vendor.

I'd recommend an Xcal2. It has a bit more adjustments for the auto trans than the Predator. You may not mess with them now but you'll grow into it.
