gears being swapped next friday...what should I do while I'm in there?

I would try to find a shop that won't rape you on the parts.

even a dealership possible. fords MSRP on thier pars is less that that.

all these prices are ford retail if they charge you more than that you are just getting screwed. I mean my local dealership will usually give me a discount over retail.

I mean thier prices are alot more than summit you are paying premium for them to stand behind it.

the $500 on the labor is a tad high IMO but no completely out of line. I would think $400 should cover it.

short story long this shop is doing you no favors they are making a pretty penny on you. I could order the parts from summit and do this myself and pocket $800 profit for a days work for whay they are charging. think about that. now if they were just making the profit on the labor and not the parts I would say go for it.

Yeah, pump $1000+ into your rear so it can handle the stock power you are putting down...

Hell f'n NO :notnice: I do not think that is a good plan at all...

Really? Tell that to my rear end that was demolished on about the 10th pass on DRs running 14.0s . . . it had a K&N filter and 4.10s and was otherwise stock.

When I say demolished - I mean it snapped both axles at the splines, which were unable to be removed from the carrier. That $90 I spent on the flat bed wrecker could have been put to better use . . . hognutz is givin' you good info . . .

This shop is very reputable, and has great prices (I have called around). But I still don't know if I should get the diff and axles. I know I'll eventually get DR's/slicks, but that might not be for a while. Will a 32 spline FRPP diff handle slicks?

If I do go with the axles/diff, should I buy the parts from them so they're warrentied? If I buy the parts it will cost around $425. Through them it will cost around $525. I don't know what I should do!!!!!!!!
