I would like to put a set of 3.73 gears on my car but i am concerned mainly with the odometer. I understand u can get a speedo gear to calibrate the spedometer correctly, but what about the odometer? Does that extra gear also calibrate the odometer?
Yep, they will both be "fixed" with the correct speedo gears. The only way to truely compensate for gear ratios over 3.55's is to change both the inner and out speedo gears. CHeck out http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com and look for the speedo calibration section where you input your gears and tire size and it will tell you what speedo gear combo you need.
You can also go to www.ddperformance.com and they have a chart as well as the parts that you will need. I think my gears were about 15 bucks a piece, but they always know EXACTLY what you need, and QUICK
I have had more than my share of bad experiences with D&D and I will no longer recommend them to anyone. After spending $5000 with them they simply shrugged their shoulders when my dad and I had problems with out TKO's and passed the buck onto TTC. Bob was the man that fixed them... and he had nothing to really do with the entire situation. Sorry to rant, but D&D used to get all of my business. Every clucth (3 of them) that I ever bought, flywheels, T-out bearings, pilot bearins, etc all came from D&D and they did NOTHING to help me when I had my problems. They wanted to charge me a small fortune just to ship it back to them to inspect it and fix what was wrong.
Also, Bob is the only person that carried inner speedo gears for TKO's, D&D doesn't.
Hmmm, I had good experience with DD, but then again I was just getting T5, not TKO parts. maybe that had something to do with it? sorry to hear that though.
I plan on getting 3.73's in very soon also. I was going to just leave the speedo gears alone for now and then down the road get a SpeedCal from Dallas Mustang. Will this only adjust the speedo or will it also adjust the odometer?

I've said this before, Hanlon's speedo calculator is not accurate. It doesn't calculate your revs per mile correcly from your inputted tire specs. It then gives slightly wrong numbers. I described the problem in detail here -
(I don't have any axe to grind with Hanlon Motorsports, never had any transactions with them. I've only heard good things (from people here). In fact, I plan on calling them soon for my trans issues.)
With 3.73's and your 8 tooth drive gear (in the trans), a 23 tooth driven will get you somewhat close. To get very, very close, you need to change the drive gear to a 7, and the driven to 21.
The 8 and 23 setup is, I'd guess, run by 98% of people with 3.73's. I do. That is until I rebuild my trans and have the 7 installed. This 8 and 23 will also cause your speedo (and more inportanly) your odometer to read higher than actual. This means your stangs official mileage will be increasing faster than actual.
The 23 is also known to be physically weak. The one in my car when I first bought it was chewed all up. So much so the cruise control wouldn't work at all. After only changing the 23 gear, the crusie has worked fine ever since.
