I purchased a GER tranny (AOD) about two years ago just before they finally went out of bizz. I think the torque converter is the main problem why my car is so slow. The tranny has a one piece input shaft, Does this mean i must run a non lockup converter, or does it matter.

Or should I say @#$% it and get a manaul and swear off the auto's for life.

P.s should have done more research be for I bought anything. But I figured they were ok, because 5.0 & fast ford ran their ads.

Your first mistake is thinking MM&FF give a **** who they take advertising money from. Secondly, a manual will never be as fast and consistent as an auto. Get your converter situation handled first

GER has made scrap iron for about the last 15 years. My dad has gotten nothing but junk from them. He went through about 4 converters before he gave up for his TH-400. They're transmission pumps are scrap, they're converters are scrap and they're rebuilt trannys are scrap. He finally had Dynamic Transmissions build him a bullet proof converter.
