I purchased a GER tranny (AOD) about two years ago just before they finally went out of bizz. I think the torque converter is the main problem why my car is so slow. The tranny has a one piece input shaft, Does this mean i must run a non lockup converter, or does it matter.

Or should I say @#$% it and get a manaul and swear off the auto's for life.

P.s should have done more research be for I bought anything. But I figured they were ok, because 5.0 & fast ford ran their ads.

If the tranny is in good working order, you can just swap in a new converter. When you order a new converter just the the company you get it from what spline shaft you have( either 26 or 31). Most likely you have a 31 spline, sine Art Carr is the only I know of that runs the 26 spline input shaft.

But either way you won't have a lock up with the one piece input shaft. The little shaft the one piece deletes is, lock up (or direct drive for the AOD.).
