I never considered the GT. Im perfectly happy with my V6 as far as performance goes. I would have liked the dual exhaust and fogs, for the looks, but I can add those.

I just retired from the military and this was my retirement gift, I plan on keeping it for many years, I have a 88 GMC truck to drive during bad weather.

The only thing I would rather have is a redfire V6 vert, those are sharp looking rides, the wife hates verts so I guess the coupe will have to do.

LOL... I'm at 19 years, 10 months... One last tour....One last deployment in the sand box and I'm done. Bought the GT for part of the same reason you did

The 2 or 3 dealers I went to had 5 or more GT's to choose from at each. No reason to say they are high demand/low supply anymore. They are still sitting there because these dealers are marking them up $3500 for coupe, $5000 for verts.

Out here in Phoenix, there are two dealers that have all of their allocated 2006 mustang GT's accounted for. They told me that they could order one, but would rather send me on because I wouldnt get the car 'till the '07 model year. Earnhart Ford wont order one for less than $1,000 over MSRP. I ended up buying one this weekend used... for 4500 below MSRP and with everything that I wanted to do aftermarket already installed

Sounds like you got an excellent deal. 4,500 below MSRP? How many miles? What mods? So you got it around $22,000?

Just because some areas of the country have 5 GTs doesn't mean the rest of the country does. I drive by my local Ford dealer a couple times a week, and just yesterday there was ONE GT Convertible there. One GT - that's it. No coupes, just a lonely Vert.

Denver must be a hot market for the Mustang because they're very, very rare here still.

I know the feeling

I'm working late, but looking out the window at my GT.. Thinking about the morning,, when,, while getting paid... I get to drive 220 miles one way, work for a few hours, then drive home..

I stopped in a month ago when they had a similar lonely GT Vert, and yes they wanted $3K over MSRP for it. Probably still asking (and getting) $3K over MSRP on this one as well.

Hmm there a very few gt's around where I live (orange county) all of which have mark ups or are already spoken for
I see a decent amount of v6's sitting on lots but even then there isn't too many of them
So yes the demand is still high on these cars and I don't see the mark ups stopping for a while

My dealer in OH is already sold out of '06 GT allotment through January '06.....all sold at MSRP.

For GTs, I doubt you're going to see any discounting until well into next MY....maybe until '07.

When I was initially shopping around trying to find an 05 for MSRP, I had one dealer (Earnhardt Ford) tell me that the Ford rep just visited the dealership and told them that Ford will be lucky to produce enough GT's for the 06 model year to keep up with the current orders, let alone lot retail. Most likely some orders carrying over to the 07 model year. Now, there are some smaller less known dealerships on the outskirts that have only 5-10 orders placed. You can try to find one of those for MSRP.
