get an 02-04...the 99-01s have the plastic intake manifold crossover piece which tends to crack after a while....you will enjoy the 4.6 crowd

Man with 10k it's going to be tough to get a 02-04 unless it has high mileage. I'm pretty sure though if you look around you'll find one, they are everywhere.

Well if you are 18 why don't you just take your GT out to Houston? I mean really, the weather is beautiful 90% out of the year, enjoy your car and use the money that would have been spent on the newer model to pay for your education.

If your worried about someone messing with it while you are at school, then get a whoopty. A nice car in a school parking lot usually draws negative attention.

i got my 99 for 8.5k in arizona in the summer lol pretty much cherry, but a bit high mileage. mine already came with the aluminum crossover, but mine was owned by an enthusiast before me. check out the 99-00 and look under the hood if you do.

just pick what body style you want and get that.. the 4.6 started in 96.. the 96-98 have NPI which is slower and the 99-04 have the PI which is alot better.. but you can do a simple headswap on a 96-98 and have a few more ponies over the 99-04 boys.. i say it all comes down to your body style likings.. also with the 96-98 like these guys said all of them come with a plastis coolant crossover that is a ticking timebomb that should be replaced weather its bad or not and its under $200, most guys will get the PI intake.. that will give you another 20+ HP right there..

have fun with it man!

You can get a 96-98 low mileage car for a decent price... Maybe even a Cobra for 10G.

99-04 and don't look back, i bought my 99 with 76k miles for 7500, yes they do have the plastic manifolds but if it does crack you can get a replacement with the aluminum crossover for like 100$ off ebay and they are easy to replace

I think you will enjoy it as an addition to your 5.0. Check out my 3 Mustangs in my sig. I love all three, they each are great in 3 different ways, they have three different "feels" and 3 different driving experiences. I bought my 04 and never looked back. It makes a great addition to my driveway.

I have a 2000, but I would suggest 02+.

Besides the car, the best advice I can give you is UTI is a WASTE OF YOUR TIME. I went. Trust me. I graduated a little over a year ago with a 3.9 GPA, attendance around 95%. I'm stuck with a 20k school loan, and no job I have EVER interviewed for gave 2 ***** about UTI. It's all about work experience! Go get a job and roll with it. Trust me! You'll tell me no now, but I promise you by the time you get halfway through, you'll wish you didnt and by then its just too late and you might as well finish.

Any specific questions, PM me.

I went through Joliet Junior College's AAS program and it was the best experience in my life. We had UTI grads coming over to our program, it was amazing.

ASE Master, L1 w/BS in tech management

Balance experience with education, it will make you a notch above the rest.

I bought my 2000 GT with 92k on it for $7800.

If you want performance out of the box get a 99 and up GT... 96-98's look great, they are just slow.
