Hey guys and gals im getting my clutch done up tomorrow its getting the flywheel machined new fluid and clutch kit in it , right now the clutch is slipping really bad and needed some good instructions on aftermarket clutch cables and quadrents, should i leave my factory cable that came with the car in there and go with an aluminum quad . With the firewall adjuster that alot of ppl love im thinking of going with that too, can i use it with my factory cable thats in the car right now or should i replcae the cable . Also before i go ahead and get this done is there a way i can play with the cable from underneith to see if i can fix the slipping from happeneing , chances are that im going to need this done , iv had the car on the road for 3 weeks and now this uggg. I was under the car already and got 1 screw that was on the casing hiding the cable and could not get the whole case off cause of another pice holding it from the other side so i gave up, is there a nut on that end that i can tamper with for a quick adjustment? I had afew responces and am looking for more any suggestions of to parts i should be looknig at or links would be greatly appreciated. This jobs gonna cost me just over 900 bones when they install the clutch kit , i dont have the quad or firewall adj or cable yet but they said they will include that in the price when i get the parts , they just said bring it in when you have the parts . Heres a small vidio of the clutch sliping up these are in kph.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAekaQr311I

i've never seen that type clutch fork before(well, my friends 79 uses the same looking cable), but it must be stock on the 87+..and your pressure plate is orange, suggesting it is maybe a centerforce clutch?? how many miles does your clutch have on it? if you tighten the nut think about what it effects, when you step on the clutch pedal it pulls the cable, releasing the clutch pressure so you can shift..when you tighten the nut you are doing the same thing as pushing the clutch in with your foot, just in a smaller amount..back off that nut until there is about 1/8" of play front to back in the clutch fork. Also when you push the clutch, does it disengage at the very top, middle or bottom of its travel? it should be in the middle somewhere. Adjust the nut like i said, then get in your car and pull up on the clutch pedal by hand a couple times, then take it for a drive..if you look above the gas pedal there should be your stock quadrant which will adjust when you pull up on the clutch pedal. If you are mechanically skilled a cluthc isnt a hard job to do, and think about the price savings.

New king cobra clutch kit (with pilot bearing, throwout bearing, alignment tool, pressure plate and clutch disk) 175-200.00

Flywheel resurfacing at you rlocal machine shop(call parts stores for more info) 30-50.00
Total: 250-300.00 plus whatever else you decide to buy.

You dont need a firewall adjuster and quadrant if your stock parts are working OK, but it can be a good thing if your stock parts eventually break

ahh thanks for the reply i tried today to mess around with the nut and am going to take it in to the pros and have them do it all up , there going to do all the work such as a flywheel resurface new fluid and clutch kit, i think its time for a new clutch anyways , i just purchased the vehicle and dont know how many miles are on the clutch so best bet is to start fresh , any suggestions of to what kinda fluid to have put in the transmission case, im gonna have him put a centerforce clutch in there and the car is petty much stock.
