A month ago I finally hit the track again after garaging my car for 5 years and I had a blast with my new setup . For the first few passes I was shaking off the rust and also trying to find the best launching technique. One pass I spun off the line and ran a 13.7 at 107mph, on another pass I got a slightly better launch but missed 4th :-/ (the easiest gear to get into) and pulled a 13.7 at 91mph, then later I launched at 3800rpm and bogged to a 13.4 at 106mph, and finally the day's best of 13.30 at 105mph by feathering the clutch from a 2700rpm launch. The only thing that kept me from launching at 4000rpm and higher was my fear of grenading my T5 or snapping an axle. Once I get it dyno tuned and step up from my 3:55's to some 4:10's, then I think I'll be at my stage one goal of 12.9's or lower. Stage two: 347 stroker or a boosted 331.

Here's a vid of my last pass:

Nice! The car looks like its lowered a bunch too which doesn't help with ET's. I know what you mean about worrying about the rear end, I took my Cobra to the track once with its 157K mile stock axles and 3.08 gears and worried like crazy about breaking something. Luckily or unluckily the clutch slipped on the launch and I only ran a 13.2 at 105. What mods does your car have? Good luck and keep us posted!

geez paul, must be going blind in your old age - 1994 Mustang GT. Trick Flow h/c/i, all supporting mods, stock bottom end 302, shorty headers, BBK off-road h-pipe, Borla catback, not yet tuned, 3:55 gears, road race suspension, soft 2500 rpm launch and no powershifting to preserve stock axles and glass T5. Result: 13.30 at 105mph and 1.90 60'.

good times but i think even without the 4.10s you could get closer. If you got a better launch you'd be knocking on the door of 12s. but i hear you about breaking stuff. That's the reason i haven't taken mine to the track in 5 years. my god its been that long already. wow time flys. I guess now who's the old man?

Yeah, it doesn't help that my car is lowered a good deal. I want this car is to be an all around performer. In the future, I plan to do some autocross as well as continue to hit the strip occasionally, but I want it to be very streetable (like your setup Killercanary!). Call me crazy, but my end goal is to handle better and accelerate quicker than vettes and porsches.

With some practice and a tune, I bet you will hit 12's pretty easily.

Nice car. But dont be too scared of the t5, lol. Mine has seen PASS AFTER PASS of 6k clutch dumps on slicks with 1.6 60fts and still drives like its new and when I just recently had it apart. Internals where perfect. But I do know of people who have broken them. But that was because they really abused the crap out of it or screwed up a shift and did not properly maintain them.

I'm running 275/50/15 BFG Drag Radials out back. I'm guessing they are capable of some 1.7 60' times if I can get them to hook decently. I started at 18psi and gradually dropped down to 13psi. I think a longer burnout would help too.

As for the T5, I want to be able to sell it in good condition to help pay for my TKO and axles later on. I have to show some love to my driveline before I upgrade my power

Nice times for your 1st time out in a few years.

I agree with some of the others, your car is easily a 12 second car as it sits, you just need to launch that SOB.

I have stock axles in both my 91 notch, & my 03 Mach 1, & have launched both of them at 5k+ rpms on slicks with no breakage (at least not yet LOL). I am also running stock transmissions in both cars too. I have only taken the notch out to the track once, & after 5 runs I ran a best of 12.75 @110 with a 1.7 60 ft. The car has a very similar setup to yours with an untuned stock bottom end 302, Edelbrock 2.02 heads, RPMII manifold, E cam, LT's, & all the supporting mods.
