Ok guys im looking for some advice on getting my 93 fox faster( I know there has probably been a 100+ threads on this and yes iv checked the search button but im lookin for something different. Anyways, me and another stang friend were talkin the other day and his 04 mach 1 runs 8.20s with just bolt ons on a set of Nitto NT05Rs in a 1/8th (which are the only tracks close by). and I was thinking man Id like to run that fast, but I have owned my stang for over a year and its never seen the track once.... yet. Also another friend has been running his mouth about how fast his 04 GTO LS1 car is and I would really like to show him what a real car is made of at the track of course. The guy I bought it from said it ran in the 10s at HSV dragway which I think he just couldnt drive because I know a 5.0 is WAY faster than that! My uncles completely stock 87 gt AOD convertible ran 9s on factory tires and factory gears when it was new. My current mods are BBK CAI, 3.73s, Subframe Connectors, King Cobra Clutch, underdrive pulleys, Smog pump removed(Still have A/c tho, its coming out as soon as it decides to quit but its all brand new, I never use it lol.), 16 or 18 degrees timing I forget, Pro 5.0 shifter, and MSD Coil. Like I said im looking to get this car into the 8.00s-8.20s range in a 1/8th but Im not looking to strip the car out or go deep into the motor.... yet lol(this is my daily driver) and I dont really want to spray it either. Ive always been a nitrous guy but it is a 93 model so it has the hyper. pistons in it and i had some bad luck with a 355 sbc with keith blacks in it and a 50 shot believe it or not KABLAMO on its 11th pass and it was a fresh motor(but it was a chevy ). Also, What is the widest tire a Fox body can fit on the rear with no mods, my car is factory height also. What is the Best Street/Strip tires for the money Im trying to keep this on a budget and am wanting to drive it to the track and back home safely (about 20 miles mostly back roads). And Finally what are the cheapest wheels you can think of for the strip something light and cheap and im looking for some skinnies for the front. Thanks Guys in advance for the advice. Sorry about the newb questions Ive only been into the mustang game for almost a year

Well let's see. My current combination led me to 8.50s in the 1/8th but that was on a horrid 1.91 60 foot. I have some summit brand welds, with skinnies and a 255/60/15 MT ET Street. Its a 27 inch tall tire so its hurting me but I'm about to purchase some ET Drags 26x10 and head back to the strip in quest for 13.20s or so.

EDIT: Didn't see your exhaust setup. Try some shorties or better yet longtubes.

I ran an 8.7 with a stock engine, long tubes only, on NT05's. However my car weighs 3100 with me in it. Start the car on a diet, add sticky tires, and drive it like you want to break it and you will run the number

Honest. I have a 04 GTO, automatic. The best it ran in the 1/8th was a 9.39. Yes it is stock. I haven't seen an LS1 GTO go any faster than that at my local track.

I have never lost to a GTO. I ran similar mods to you, had a cobra intake and headers. On 275/45/17 Nitto 555( NOT R's). I ran 9.0-9.1. Just a decent set of stick tires, and assuming you can drive. I see no reason you shouldn't beat him.

A fox with gears and a decent launch should at least hang with a stock GTO. 1st things first get a baseline!

high 12ish pass

gears
slicks
electric fan
headers mid pipe cat back
GT40 explorer intake
migger MAF and throttle body (sn95 and explorer throttlebody would work)
un hook the front sway bar

launch it off the wood and drive it like you stole it...

that should get you close

I dont like to run like that on the street but this was on a deserted 4 lane at 4:30 am and i only had the car for about a month so I wanted to see what it had
