Should be picking it up saturday i cant wait ,mostly stock. 5 speed 99 gt it has underdrive pulleys and offroad x pipe with borla catback. The question is what would you guys reccomend as first mods, eventually i want to get an offroad h with a mac catback but i also have 4.10's at the top of the list. ive been looking online and noticing how expensive stuff can be and how fast it can add up lol, im told its like the mod bug once you start all you want to do is mod. And another question what is a good set of springs too get to give the new edges a mean stance?

Since you already have a good exhaust set up you should enhance that
with an intake set up......... CAI or K&N drop in filter, TB and plennum.
As for the mean stance it depends on how much of a ride quality
sacrifice you can deal with......... The shorter the spring travel the stiffer the
spring rate. Myself I am satisfied with a 1 inch drop (Eibach Pro Kit) even though
its not a really super mean look.

Why would you change that exhaust. I'll bet that sound wicked. I would leave that alone and get the 4.10's subframe connectors, short throw, and drop it. What kind of UD's does it have? If they're piggyback swap them out fast for say, the Steedas. Congrats on the new-to-you stang. Pics or :fail:

If money's tight, start out with the shifter. If it's still tight, then get the sfcs. Then the 4.10s. Springs last.

Forget about mods. Get the car super clean, get it in perfect mechanical condition. That will take the better part of the winter. Then in the spring after doing all that cleaning and preventative maint you will have had time to seriously consider what mods. Then get the mods if you must.

If it still has it's original shocks/struts I would replace those and add an eiback pro kit set of springs with energy suspension isolators.

Chances are after 10 years those shocks are hammered. The suspension setup in my signature works very well. I think it ran me around $550 for shocks, struts, and springs

Yea i cant wait, im going to get it to perfect first like somebody said then im going to be looking at mods, from what im told and what i read a short throw shifter is definetly one of the first i need, and FLSFC's, and i definetly want 4.10's soon, and then maybe ill start digging deep into the engine like some cams and longtubes eventually. i usually never liked x pipes but for some reason the exhaust on this car sounds mean at least on the inside, ill be sure to post pics as soon as i get it. Only problems were cosmetic and weren't that bad, the roof was a little faded from the florida sun and basically had some road marks, and chips. I am going to see what i cant clean and wax out before i decide if i want to get it repainted i hear repainting a black car black is really easy anyways.

then go CAI, TB, Plenum, gears, and tune

MGW Shifter is best for regular driving, I love mine.
Eibach Prokit is great and will give you a 1.5 inch drop and wont completely kill the ride.
O/R Hpipe will give you a more traditional rumble from your exhaust, where as the X is much higher pitched. I have had both with different muffler setups, and I must say that the O/R H and Magnaflow catback is the best sounding exhaust I have ever had and it is low key enough that it doesnt attract the wrong kind of attention that the Flowmasters I tried did!
Maximum Motorsports sells the best fitting full length subs I have ever seen. The shop that installed them said the exact same thing.
4.10s and a tune are in my cars future. Low on funds right now, but something I cant wait to do. with gears comes more exhaust noise, another great reason to get a magnaflow system, I like to think while driving!

I am planning on doing exactly what kilgore said, there are a few cosmetic problems that i plan on adressing some touch up paint here and there and get the roof repainted, it needs new speakers theyre blown, and the driver side window switch isnt working. Interior is in great condition and mechanically the car runs perfect we did a 3rd gear pull just to see how well the engine handles under a load and it didnt sputter or do anything unusual it just took off smoothly. I really like the exhaust it has now and i will probably keep it for a while and do some other mods before i look at new exhaust, what are a few website you all perfer to order from. I have already been searching for some mods and im realizing how fast the money adds up lol.
