Getting the GT to run like a Cobra

As a result of the accident a couple weeks ago the body shop is putting a Cobra appearance kit on the car. I'm not gonna put the Cobra emblems on until the car is at least as fast as one. It'd look REALLY bad to have it look like a Cobra then go out and only run a 15.20. Keep in mind these times are for a 94 GT Convertible AODE versus a 94 Cobra Convertible 5 Speed. From what I can tell, the 94 Cobra ran a 14.50 stock, any one know if thats accurate? I'm also not sure if that was a coupe or a vert. Anyway...besides a Cobra intake, is a head swap the only difference between the 94 GT and Cobra? Will those alone bring me from 15.20 to 14.50?

Thanks!

I think any difference between the stick and the aode will be made up with the shift kit and 4.10's.

Anyone know if the intake and head swap alone will get me in the 14.50 range? That should be good for about 50hp right?

The shift kit and the 4.10s wont make up for it. AODE's are slush boxes. You'll need a nice converter to really catch up to a 5 speed. I recently added a converter and shift kit to my AODE. If I were to do it all over again, I would have just swaped my AODE for a 5 spd.

I have a 2500 stall. This fat a$$ car chirps 2nd every time and 3rd occasionally. If the cars running like a Cobra anyone see a problem with putting Cobra badges on it?

the equivalent of a civic putting Type R on his car. Dont make it what its not. Be proud to be able to own a GT.

14.5 is exactly what mine ran bone stock down to the snorkel with bookoo tire spin. With the mods in my sig, i've increased that to a mighty 15.0 with even more spin. :nonono: The crappy az summer weather is the excuse i've been hanging on to.

The Cobra owner in me says don't do it. But whatever floats your boat. I have a Cobra R hood on mine but it's not an R!...I have bullitt rims and it's not a bullitt! So I can't be one to comment on posing. If you have the money...I'd definately set your sights a little higher than just beating a cobra. Make it a real beast. Good luck with her.

Maybe try advancing your timing, some stickier tires, and some underdrive pulleys?

Are you having any pinging problems or anything?

fwiw, i have a cobra hood and front bumper, but i'm going to get other emblems that show it is not a normal gt, rather than using cobra emblems. to me, it just feels wrong to put cobra emblems on a car that is not a true cobra.

The 94-95 cobra had the same hood as the 94-95 gt/v6 the cobra did not get its "own" hood untill 96 and the DOHC4.6. Unless your talking about the 95 R hood that was used in 95 on the 95 cobraR that was made with like what 250 copies?

I wouldn't do it. put some other emblems on there if u must, but don't make it something its not. if u want a cobra that bad, go out and buy one.

I would love to see the cobra front end and GT bumper. So when u fly past somebody who thinks u have a cobra, then they see that its only a GT....see what i'm getting at
