So I had my car tuned on a Mustang dyno and I want to get dyno-jet numbers so I can compare once and for all.....
Anyway I have an appointment for wed. of this week..
Here are my mustang dyno numbers:
257.3hp@5000rpm 297.1ftlbs@4000rpm
I want some people to guess what #'s I will make on the dyno-jet...
I'm gonna guess 277-280ish..hp and 325-330ftlbs.....
I am just curious to see the difference in the dyno's
(plus I have a bet with a friend) If I win he's payin for the dyno time....
He thinks I'll be under 270.. so we'll see..
Thanks, also mabye this should be in talk...sorry

gtrackd02,

I think you are deffinatly going to win this bet. Using the formula I have to convert the mustang dyno to dynojet I have your new numbers being 290.1 HP and 340.8 TQ. I dont know if the forumla is 100% accurate, but I think it is close. Good luck. Let us know how is turns out. Those are impressive numbers!!

I agree. His tuner is playing games with his numbers.

Yup, that's me. I have yet to see any '99+ GT make the power numbers you are discussing without some internal engine work. That's all I am saying.

The bottom line is that a dynamometer is a profit center for any performance shop and aftermarket equipment manufacturer. Keep that in mind whenever you are getting dyno pulls done by the same shop that sold you your aftermarket performance parts. You are smart to get your Dynojet pulls done by another place. Make sure you don't give them any of your personal dyno expectations before they do the pulls. Just let them do the pulls, correct for SAE, and give you the results. Ask them what correction factor they used for SAE. It might be on the printout, but in case it isn't, get it from them. Actually, your best bet is to bring a CD-R or floppy disk with you to save your dynojet files. This way you can download the Dynojet software from their website and analyze your runs at home. The dynojet files are small. All seven of my pulls only took up 40K of a floppy disk.

Yeah , all good points you made there... But I dont think that this guy would do that to me... Well ya never know...

Anyway I can just bring in a cd-r and they'll burn the info onto it for me? cool... I'll get the pulls done tomorow at 5 pm so I'll be posting them tomorow night... I am skeptical myself...

And so what if my shop gave me false numbers... I paid $150for a dyno tune(already had the chip), would I have any way of getting it back, or what course of action should i take... Ahh we can talk about that one after I get the numbers tomorow......
Thanks guys, chris

Updated dyno numbers.......

well I just got back from the dyno,
And as some of us thought, The mustang dyno numbers might not quite be what they seem in my case...
The numbers were 257.3hp and 297.1ftlbs...for the mustang dyno
With no explanation(sp) of how these numbers were obtained.. or if they are corrected , or what..

Now today I went to another place....With a dyno-jet...

Here are my numbers (sae correction factor of .98)
258.8 hp 300.8ftlbs ... Uncorrected they were like 265.?? and 308.??
out of three pulls this was the third... he said if he would have made a couple more that it would have likely went up a couple more hp... but I'm satisfied That these are accurate #'s

Also the graph from the mustang dyno matches everything peak to peak same rpms...same air fuel ratios kinda cool.... also kinda dissapointing..lol

I am going to get the sheets posted later If anyones interested....
Thanks, chris...

That sounds about right considering we have similar mods. My numbers were 255/301 SAE and 263/309 Standard

Yeah, Iam still wondering what they did to get my original #'s on the mustang dyno.... I was kinda expecting it to be a little higher though...
But I'm still happy.. Thanks for not roasting me...I just posted what they gave me....the first time...

now if only i could post the video... My car sounded sick as hell!!!!

As long as you are happy with the numbers then that is all that matters. Congrats man and have fun with it.

Are you planning on any other mods for it?

Can someone inform me of what exactly SAE is and what it stands for? Is SAE like your real dyno numbers and whats the difference if its uncorrected? Its always higher if not corrected to SAE isnt it? Thanks for the info I am getting my car dynoed in the next couple months when I bring it out.

it corrects for atmospheric conditions. i think it brings them to standard or something..50F, 30.02 barometer,0% humidity etc etc...anyways its kind of like leveling the playing field for people i guess. in reality i don't know if its really worth anything because those conditions are incredibly rare.

i may be wrong but thats how it was explained to me today.
