Miami, Ok
I went to autozone today and priced some stuff and it was expensive so i decided to order some nicer name brand stuff for cheaper from summit......

I figure as slow as my car is and how bad my milage is (12 in town)
A tune up couldnt do anything buy help my car....

Alright i plan on getting an MSD cap and rotor kit.

What brand plug wires should i get???
Also whats a good plug for a stock 133k motor??
Any places i can get some cheap o2 sensors??? they are 40$ a pop and thats alot.....

So i'd be getting
cap/rotor
plug wires
plugs
o2 sensors
anything else i should get???
i already replaced my fuel filter like a month ago... and i also changed oil like 250 miles ago..

Possible to get some better performance from these changes?? i have no idea when this car had a tune up last....

Yup definitley, i did a full tuneup and definitley picked up some ponies and 4 mpg.

Cap and Rotor: Ford
Wires: Ford Racing
Plugs: Autolite 25s...real cheap at walmart

O2 sensors are cheapist at autozone, like 38.99.

As for the wires: http://store.summitracing.com/partd...4294864973+4294908331+4294840126&autoview=sku

Btw...i've heard good things about the ford cap and rotor kit. i also use the MSD cap and rotor, but i've heard of some people having problems with it

Cap / Rotor = should be brass so they don't corrode (sp?)
Plug Wires = FRPP 9MM units. They fit good and are numbered to ease installation
Plugs = Autolite 24's or Motorcraft ones. Stick with copper plugs also
02 senors = expensive everywhere you go.

Don't forget the fuel filter, air filter and new fluids in all your major parts.

Performance will change for the better. Car will run smother.

FWIW, I use a Brass cap from the parts store - it was about 12 bucks IIRC. From CSK. I did not sift through all 10 pages on Summit to see what you were lookin at though. ;)

Good luck bud.

Hows this sound guys??
MSD cap/rotor kit with the FRPP 9mm wires???
msd is pretty cheap and has brass terminals and the frpp are pretty cheap wi too...

I'm mostly tuning her up because i am selling her soon, i want to see if i can get some better milage out of her. And if some power and smoothness comes then thats great!

MSD has nice buyer appeal IMHO, so that might be the way to go if your think you will sell. ;)

FRPP wires are nice!

Oh yeah, HEGO's generally go for 40 bucks each, so that price is about as good as you can do.

Good luck bud.

awesome i just finished the order.
When they come in i will get some autolites and some o2 sensors, then i will drain the radiator later after that. Think it would be worth it to drop the tranny pan for peace of mind??

might try running codes, might get a surprise u didnt know was bad

frpp wires = nicee

napa has good 02 sensors for about 35 bucks a pop

...if they have napa anywhere but socal, im not sure

also, try using some fuel injector cleaner and some oil additives, might get something out u didnt know u had

THis is random but do you think all this stuff could be way overdue for service
and doing the tune up and cleaning and all this stuff could maybe hlpe the car so much it would run faster??

Like maybe in to the low 16s, then i might keep the car or something....

If you are looking to buy O2 sensors then get the Ford Motorsport sensor kit if Summit still has it. If I remember correctly its like a $100 or less and comes with real Ford O2's and other stuff. I believe that O2's from autozone are a lot more expensive and not "Factory". Just an idea.....

If your car is overdue for a tune up, then YES your mileage and power can improve drastically. In the case of my car it still had what appeared to be the original cap & rotor, wires, and spark plugs, which had widened to almost twice the correct gap (!!!). I thought the car ran okay before the tune up, but afterwards it was a totally different animal... it picked up a TON of power, a little mileage, and the engine ran much smoother. I'm sure if I ran it in the quarter before and after the tune up it would have knocked .5 seconds off at the very least.

Didn't you say your car sometimes detonates on 10* timing w/ 87 octane? I'm betting a tune up can only help... run some seafoam through the motor (via a vaccum line), you may have carbon deposits which are causing the detonation. I also second doing everything under this link: http://www.muscularmustangs.com/iac.php Those procedures also improved my power, mpg and driveability greatly.

Migh as well be complete replace all your PCV stuff as well (pcv valve, mesh screen, grommet, hose), probably won't effect power or mileage, but there's a good chance it needs to be done. Air filtertoo if it needs replacing... you should be able to score a K&N drop-in off ebay for pretty cheap.
