My '14 mustang GT has 26000 miles on it and I'm going to drive from Los Angeles to New orleans. Any concerns I should have while on the trip? it's still under warranty and I gonna take it to the dealer for an oil change and fluid check make sure everything is good. Has anyone had any horror stories driving their's that far?

My 14 is my daily, I have almost 50,000 miles on it... Been from chicago to Maryland a few times and drive it all year even in 3 foot of snow... I've had no issues with it yet

You won't have any problems. My 06 gt has 188,000 miles and I would not hesitate to make the drive. My 88 LX 5.0 has 357,000 miles, and well after 300,000 I took it on a couple long trips.

I did a 6000 k trip to Vegas and Pac coast last year, plus i drag race the car on slicks and it's my daily, too, year round. Hasn't missed a beat yet.

Nah man.

Every vehicle should have that capability haha.

My Ranger has like 170,000 and I drive that thing to Colorado every now and then.

Concerns? shady looking hitchhikers.... aside from that... no worries. Drive on! Even if you said it had 260,000 miles, I'd still say no problem. 26K, your coyote is still a puppy....

My wife's car is a lease (and her car before that was a piece) so we do lots of family trips in my 2010. 80k and it eats up highway miles. My favorite trip so far has been the twisty roads up by Lake Oconee in Georgia.

My only suggestion is if you're into detailing, detail out the car first... Wash, Wax, Clay, then go over it using a DA with a good finishing polish, then look at applying CQuartz, Blakfire or Opti-coat to coat the paint.
Also getting a 3m clear bra on hood, bumper cover, leading edge of fender and fender flares is a good idea.

This will save your paint and clear coat from the nasty conditions you will encounter such as weather, behing stuck behind big-rig trucks going through construction zones etc..

Mechanically, as everyone has stated... under the hood should be fine. Ford's been making 302's for very, very, very long time. And you can't kill the tremec transmissions.

Just check fluids, make sure radiator fluid is flushed and topped... For oil I like synthetic... well, not true synthetic/ Mobil 1.. Check your tires, tire pressure... make sure the spare is in good order. You should be all set!

I did a cross country trip in my 89 Mustang LX 5.0 once. It was fun and some parts were scary too (i.e. going through not so well documented/traveled roads through mountains in Montana)

Enjoy your trip!!!
