What the hell is the little pipe about two inches long for? I PB blasted everything and I am going to put in the H here in an hour or two but I figured I should check to see what that piece was first. :nice: Thankls

If you dont replace the studs on the driver side you will have an exhaust leak. What I have done is remove them & just replace them with a bolt. You maybe able to grind the sholders off the stock one but I would replace them.

I decided to wait until tommorrow. How the hell do you remove the studs? Also the factory gasket on the passenger side should be ok to re-use if it has low miles shouldn't it? Thanks again. :)

I replaced the studs on the drivers side with a NAPA part number studs (they don't have a shoulder) and used coper rtv on the passenger side along with the gasket. I cant remember the exact part number, but I don't have any leaks now since I reinstalled the o/r x pipe. I think the part number is something like 660-1819, but don't quote me on this. Soak the studs with some type of nut buster and place 2 nuts on the stud and jam them against each other and back it out by using a wrench on the inside nut. I also used some high temp never seize on the new studs just in case they ever need to be removed.

That's incorrect. I didn't replace anything, and it's fine. Replacing studs is completely useless unless you break one removing the old pipe.

And whoever asked whether I was sure that metal piece goes in the drivers side, yes.. I'm sure.

Yes, drivers side. It's Mac's answer to many complaints of leaks on the drivers side. You can either replace the studs so the mating surfaces actually press up against each other, or use the sleeve to fill the gap.
