I am going to take the 97 GT 5 speed I got last fall and put together this winter up to the track and see what I run on street tires for a baseline here is the mods most of them were bought by the previous owner

Full PI sawp, steeda underdrives, BBK cold air, pypes shorty headers, bassani O/R X pipe, magnapack cat back 3.73 gears.. with sct tune the tires are 275 in the back but they suck.

It should be lighter than my old 01 since it has no abs, no power options, no cruise and no rear seat.

The car will be run at new england dragway we are at sea level.

I am hoping to do better than what I did with my old car that ran a stock 13.9

I am hoping for a 13.6-13.7 might go quicker if I can get it to hook..

After I get a baseline I am swapping the 3.73's out for 4.10's and swapping in a 31 spline carrier I have and I will go up again with 15 inch DR's

You guys have some fast tracks up there. What DA are you expecting when you run?

I guess a 13.2-4@104mph.

I ran consistant 13.1-13.2's on 2 different NPI motors with different PI headswaps in full street trim and 275/40-17 Nitto DR's. One was 264rwhp, the other 259rwhp. Stock cams, and no longtubes. On street tires, my best was a 13.27 with a 1.91 60ft and I ran 13.5's if I didn't hook. My best MPH was 105.2-4. Good luck!

A 13.20 would be great but I think my street tires are going to hold me back.. when I do go I will post the da number... should be good this time of year, plus Icheck before I go up anyways so I won't go if the air is bad

Hey now! Don't be stealin ma predictions!

jk. I actually based my prediction on your old PI swap times. 13.2 minus drag radials = 13.4 (or at least that's my guess).

And who's that hottie in your avatar?
Edit: *Makes note to self not to ask about hotties in avatars*

Man, it took me quite a few tries before I did my suspension to hit 13.3 WITH 315 BF Goodrich Drag Radials. I tried launching at the track ONCE with Sumitomo 315s, and I cut a 2.1 60 foot and ran a 13.8, if I remember correctly. Good luck on those tires!

if you know how to drive, street tires will not hold you back. My brother ran a 13.1@105 1.91 60ft w/ my old PI swap engine, 3.73s on sh##y kumos.

street tires dont have to be a huge disadvantage. they are some of course. rev it 4000 and slip the clutch while feeling tire slip. get it right where it you hear slip and keep adding clutch till the car catches up with rpms. powershift it.

figure out how much heat the tires need. a lot of street tires just need cleaning, and heat softens them too much. turn them over a few times and run it... no dry hopping. it hurts traction when you need it.

if you get the 60 below 1.95 i say 13.2 @105.

Yeah I think with Dr's and a little more seat time I can get a 12.90 or so... I am more rusty then I thought after being out of the game for 4 years
