I know there are a few guys on here from Southern California, so I figured I would give this a shot.

I'm looking into this for a buddy of mine. He owns a 2005 or 2006 Lexus IS350 (black). He is on a ship in one of the shipyards in San Diego and had his car in the parking lot when the shipyard was painting a ship. He got some over-spray on his car. I don't know how bad, but he says not that bad.

He wants to see if wet sanding would be an option to get the stuff off. Just looking for any recommendations for body shops in the area to do wet sanding if that is even an option.

Thanks in advance...

.....I'm sure Shaun can answer that question as he is local down there. If there is no-one trustworthy in San Diego, he can always drive 90 miles north to the "OC" where we have a few different people who could take a look at it for him.......

Thanks! I'm assuming you're talking about Strayer? I'll wait for him to see this and reply.

wow, someone asking about me! Sorry, I havn't been on stangnet in a while. I had my paint done up in Pasadena. I know a few club members that are happy with a shop in Escondido.

I also know of one in Santee which is closer but think they are more expensive. Hit me up if you still need help and I can ask on my club forums.

No problem, my buddy found a shop on his own that can get the overspray off. Charging him $400 to get it done. He brought the car down to the shop yesterday and the guy/owner looked at it briefly and said it wouldn't be a problem getting it done. So, you can imagine he is happy as all hell. He was worried that it would require a new paint job.

But, thanks for looking in.

Before you take the car to a paint shop try using a clay bar and
see if it comes off. Try either clay magic or mothers gold clay bar.
Its worth a try pending how bad it is.

The only local San Diego body shops with whom I've done business over the years are Miramar Auto Body & another company that has long since been defunct.

Miramar Auto Body has only performed light collision repairs on my dearly departed SVT Contour & my wife's Focus sedan, but both times they've done a superb job.

Years ago I had a similar issue with purple paint being splattered all over the front of my equally dearly departed '89 Saleen (I never knew the source of the splatters, probably some paint contractor truck on the interstate that I had the misfortune of being behind). At the time I took the Saleen to a local detailing shop to have the splatters removed but that shop no longer exists, either.
