good cam choice?

i need to find a good cam for the motor im building, im thinking of the cranecams powermax 2031. seems like it would work but your info would be appreciated.

heres my setup:
-ported cobra upper and lower
-gt 40 iron heads
-paxton sn 93 for boost
-bbk shorties
-70mm maf
-not known big tb
-30lb injectors
-255lb fuel pump

would this cam work? would there be a better one? i was thinking of the ecam for its all around performance, but i think a cam more setup for a forced induction setup might be a little more efficiant.

tfs stage 1 id say for an ots cam. works good with boost and the ford irons.

Between these two particular cams:

I have installed both in customer's cars and used the E-303 personally. If you are running an auto then the 2031 is what you are looking for hands down. For street driving.

I have also used the 2031 cam for both boosted and N/A performance in stick cars. Both cars used edelbrock heads. Both were very responsive on the street and returned good mileage. Idle was smooth yet gave a hint of having "something under the hood". No issues when the A/C was turned on.

E-cam
I don't know why this cam gets such bad press. I installed this cam in a customer's SN93 car and he went 10.40's while being very streetable.

I have also used the E cam in my street car(daily driver since 1989). I have used this cam for 6 years. I passed California emissions testing 3 times. My car is not set up for drag racing but when I did time the car I went 13.03 @103mph. Not bad for a lowered car w/ported E7's(w/1.84X1.54 valves). I got about 22-24mpg on the highway with 16mpg city.

The only complaint I have about this cam is the wandering idle. I could not get the idle to straighten out under 850rpm. If I set the idle to 950 then I would be able to maintain good manners with the A/C on.

well a/c is going to be torn out, and its a 5spd, and gonna be with a blower. will the e-cam be enough? i know my setup isnt going to be super intense and im looking for efficiency. so maby the e-cam will be my best bet. thoughts?

The 2031 will be a good choice for your S/C car. The 2031 is also a good cam but has a little less overlap and favors the exhaust. This is a better street cam choice than the E-303.

The E-303 is a hotter grind. Gains are most noticable in the mid tope end to about 5500rpm. Don't get me wrong the E cam can hit the rev limiter at will but that ability alone should not be a criteria to choose an efficient cam.

Like I posted I was able to get a car into the 10's using the E-cam and drive daily. We were also able to pass california emissions.


Either cam is a good choice with the 2031 leaning more toward a good all around choice.

Just something to watch for on the 2031. 1.7 rockers are necessary and you will probably need to use longer pushrods. You will have to check to see how much longer you will need so I will not post any numbers.

ford motorsports F303 cam for life, awsome for your blower set up, plus a nice lumpy idle.
